Hotels near Madison Square Garden
« on: September 13, 2022, 09:03:15 AM »
I’m headed to New York for the night to see Eric Clapton on Monday and wanted to know a good Marriott hotel to stay at and possible some good places to eat nearby. I’m only staying the night, leaving late morning Tuesday so I wanted to catch an early dinner Monday prior to the show. Any suggestions?

that area is a shit hole, i can get really bad. the marriott in either chelsea or the club pulse are both nearby and decent. The best restaurant in the area is prob Craft, that's tom colicchio’s spot, but might be hard to get a seat. hidden leaf is amazing if you like asian, il gattopardo is tops for italian and any of the stk restaurants if you're feeling touristy. if you're going with a date try estiatario milos, the views are amazing and you can just walk over to the edge

If it must be a Marriott then just stay at the one in Times Square, you can walk to the Garden from there. Del Frisco's is an excellent steak house located next door to Fox News  8)

I could roll with Hilton too, I’ve got enough points for a good Boyle of theirs also.

I’d go with this. You’re about a mile north of the Garden and somewhat removed from the dregs in Times Square:

It’s also close to Central Park.

I was thinking the Algonquin but this may be nice. I’ve only been to New York City twice and I’m not too familiar with it. Last time I went, about ten years ago, Onemorerep gave me advice on a little Cuban place to eat that was pretty good. I’ll have to do an early dinner since the show starts at 8.

If you like BBQ, this is your place. Great brisket and cool side dishes:

Right across the street from the Garden-  Hotel Pennsylvania. Massive old place. Most likely haunted. A shit hole for sure.

Decent steak house
Great location
Low prices for prime location
Roof top fire doors always unlocked. Great for taking pictures.
Several gyms very close by

I’ve stayed there many times on the company dime. It ain’t nice but I always liked that pig pen.

Stay at the Waldorf.

It’s where Al Pacino and Chris O’Donnell stayed.
