Pasta is too starchy. Brown rice would be the better choice.

it's either 4oz of cooked 100% organic whole wheat pasta or 1/2 cup jasmine white rice (100% organic, no junk, fillers...) so I would have to think both are pretty solid foods, no?  Just as starchy as sweet potatoes and oats...which are kings!

Right and when dieting down to single digits stay away from any wheat product.  Gluten is a wheat sugar and doesn't break down leaving you with a subcutaneous layer of water under the skin.  Even when you lean out you'll have that puffy look with the water the gluten causes you to retain.  Brown rice is the way to get your day carbs.  Don't forget the fibrous veggies.

Brown rice pasta is really great and doesn't taste too much different than wheat pasta.

I use a brand called Tinkyada.

Jasmine Rice is extremely high glycemic.

I would rather eat dog shit when on a diet, or period.

I only eat brown rice.

Used to eat whole grain pasta until a month or so ago, then decided to eat the healthiest carbs available.

But if having to choose between whole grain pasta and jasmine rice... Whole grain pasta everytime.

No contest.

Isn't dogshit high in carbs.  If I was you I'd stick to the brown rice.  Of course you could mix white rice with the dogshit and get brown rice.  But, then it wouldn't be the real thing. ;D

thanks for the response but slow down a minute....I agree, it's on the higher end typically, but this is from a nat. store, 100% all organic and not processed.....actually, brown rice is an ingedient.  A second note, is that the I is flawed.  1/2 cup is a very small amount in regards to the glycemic load and esp. since I combine it with lean meat, a fiberous veggie and a large salad, the GI has a minimal effect....HOWEVER, I will switch to brown rice and barley pasta

When dieting strict, I would use oatmeal, and wild or brown rice as my carb sources.  Use high glycemic carbs for right after your workouts like potatoes.

I just looked at the label and it's 100% organic jasmine white rice.  If I had a 1/4 cup of jasmine, 1/4 cup of brown and it was accompanied by chicken and beef, wouldn't the GI have very little bearing?

I also have some incredible Quinoa Pasta (better than whole wheat) which I would include too!

The GI index in Jasmine is around 60-70.....high side of medium......not to shabby, huh?

Gluten free and it in my opinion is not any different tasting than wheat. Unless it is homemade wheat of course.
