I actually am suspicious of this lift. The guy only has a sub 500 bench in competition a few years ago.
See those red 25kg plates stacked vertically? Would be insanely hard to pic up when stacked like that.. The lift looks too fast and easy as well. I don't know.

Good point on the stacking.  There was a lot of bend in that bar though.

https://www.openpowerlifting.org/u/danialzamani .

His official numbers. Best Raw in 2016, was #474. Best single ply in 2017 was #760. He was missing single ply attempts in the high #700s, low 8s in 2019. He has put on a decent amount of bodyweight since that #474 though, about #60. It's a head scratcher, I'll wait till he competes again.

That did look very easy.

Could be fake, never really know, but I've seen his videos slowly going up in weight recently and it's quite impressive to watch. I don't think I've ever seen him squat or dead though.
Liar!!!!Filt!!!!

The white lettering on real Eleiko powerlifting plates should be raised, not painted.

Danial is full of Shi'ite

That's a massive revelation, if correct.

Hang on...so the 1,000-lb lifters don't even generally hit 600-lb without the shirt?  That's incredible.  I didn't realize the disparity was THAT significant.

that is true . it is ridiculous

To this day, the best 700-plus raw press was Kirill Sarychev, with his 738. No chest compression-rebound. Just a supremely controlled rep. Feather touch and a legit pause.

Julius Maddox always hugely compression-rebounds. Like this Iranian filthy Muzzie in this thread.

Speaking of Maddox, his window is quickly closing. No man can survive his bodyweight and drug abuse for any length of time. It’s why these hyper freaks almost always shine for a few years then … essentially disappear.

The life-threatening drug use required to approach the otherworldly poundages cannot be maintained.

i don't know how old you are Rob, but you've been around a long time.

do you remember how strict judging was in the 70s-80s?

big Jim Williams did a 700lb strict bench that was disallowed because of wrist wraps.

Arcidi's first attempt to beat Kaz; he was red lighted for a slightly perceptible uneven lockout.

don't even get me started on bench 'shirts' or deadlifts these days

I’m 53.

Without question the standards have dropped, across all but a couple federations.

Agreed

The multi-ply bench press world record is currently 1,350 pounds.
The biggest deadlift ( multi ply-suit + straps ) is 1,104 pounds....

What's next ? Powerloading meets ?

The multi-ply bench press has truly become preposterous.

In so many ways, powerlifting itself has become preposterous.

For all Westside offered in ways of alternate thinking, it’s also irreparably harmed the sport. For the legend that Chuck Vogelpohl is and others from that gym, his/their squatting was generally less of a squat and more an exaggerated hip thrust.

last time i was at the arnold classic, a guy attempted to bench 750 with a shirt (they aren't shirts, they are just a semicircle thing they put their arms in at the time)

he was red lighted twice because he couldn't even pull it down to touch his chest!!

third attempt he went to 800,  and it made it down to his chest and he popped it up for a good 'lift'.

i was told that whatever you could pop off the racks on the bench, was what your shirted bench would be, the bottom 75% was all shirt

My max was 320 in contest. I feel like I may be able to beat that currently. I've given up bringing my shit pecs up, so I'm just trying to get my bench up. I am working to increase it, but training in the 4-rep max range so I don't pull anything.

But speaking of bench press claims - what's with Wilt Chamberlain claiming a 600-LB bench press?

Surely, that can't be close to true? Didn't he have like a 92" reach or something? Did Wilt even bench 405?

I benched 460 lbs for 1 rep, raw, at a body weight of 185 lbs (I'm 5'7''), technically speaking I'm stronger than all
