Mike Bridges (1982) WORLD RECORD
« on: July 15, 2023, 01:39:07 AM »

70's/80's PL was the greatest time for the sport. (And for BB as well IMO)...

Mike Bridges (1982) WORLD RECORD (181 lbs / 82.5 kg) POWERLIFTING TOTAL 954.5 KG .
- 836 lb Squat (379.5 kg).
- 512 lb Raw Bench (232.5 kg).
- 755 lb Deadlift (342.5 kg).
- TOTAL 954.5 KG  (WORLD RECORD).

Mikes numbers were so impressive, done in singlet and t-shirt. A small guy (181 lbs) w/ gigantic numbers...
Crazy squat...

In 1980 the World championships was in Arlington Tx and I was up there every day. I don’t remember Mike’s exact weights lifted but they were close to those. He won the outstanding lifter award.Funny thing was there were some big jacked fuckers there but the best lifter was Mike and I swear he was about 5-7 and 180 lbs and looked like he could be your damn paper boy.

He was about 5'3".  Shorter than Franco. I'm not sure but I think it's the same guy that now competes in Cross Fit over 65 division where he competes at a high level. The stats for crossfit are very confusing but I think he was ranked 5th world wide in 2023.

I didn’t measure him but yeah he did not look like an intimidating guy.

I believe it's his son Josh who is the former Navy Seal who came in second in the world in CrossFit. He has destroyed his knee and I don't think he will be back to the CrossFit games. He's about the same height and weight as his father.

No strict curl competitions ever for Mike Bridges. Arguably the best power lifter of all time.
