Yes. His injuries were starting to show. He injured his back...again at that point.  Also yrs of drugs caught up with him. Take Vince Taylor  for example.  He didn't start competing until 36 and looked great well into his 50's. But he didn't  tear his body down n I'm guessing  he didn't use the gear atleast in duration as Ronnie

Then on one hand you have Don Youngblood who didn’t even life weights until his mid 30’s and went all out, heart gave out

Vince was a " pumper" what I mean is ....he trained moderate weight and high reps (pumping the blood into the muscles) he did this his whole career... and for every body part .... obviously it is amazing longevity wise ....,he still is jacked and looks great today!
