What really happened was our piece of shit premier (equiv to a governor in the US) lied to the public and was 'saving the games' and promised multiple events in various country areas which would boost their economy massively. Lied all the way, it was an election strategy, and it worked.
This was the shitcunt who enforced mask mandates, not allowed into shops without proof of vaccination, not allowed to work, whilst buying houses and magically turning them around for millions of dollars of profit in a depressed market that he helped create. How does he (and some of his front benchers) sell houses at up to a million over the going rate in the middle of that scamdemic. No chance in hell it was the way the under the table kickbacks from the vaccine manufacturers was channeled to them. No way.

Even turned our police into his private thugs, turning up the reporters houses (the ones who dared to speak against him) threatening them not to cover and anti vax anti mask protests - mainstream news acted as if they never happened. Had them manhandling a pregnant woman who dared post about a protest on facebook. An elderly lady offering no resistance smashed to the ground and pepper sprayed. Real piece of work our leader.
