The thing that made a difference for me was volume.
It's a bit hard though to gauge the weights appropriately.

I rarely train to failure now

I follow a moderate volume approach - double digit sets with single digit rep ranges. I'd rather do 10 sets of 3 reps than 3 sets of 10 reps

Two or three reps left in the tank in each set

No injuries and feel great. Gains are slow and consistent

Eric Bugenhagen is the host on my favorite channel......he`s funny, and he`s a beast.........visits old school gyms and lifts  amazingly heavy weights with ease.

His wife ain`t too  shabby either.  :)
