Would be cool if thread could get back more to being about triceps strains.

sports ortho said the distal ones are the ones that can require surgery
any experiences otherwise?

Again, it is based on what is torn not where. If your tendon detaches from the shoulder or elbow, they can reattach it. If it is just the muscle, there isn't shit they can do no matter where the tear. I have been through this with multiple orthopedic surgeons. Think of torn muscle fiber like hamburger meat you can not sew it back together

The ortho I mentioned specifically said it is the distal (elbow) ones that may require surgery.

You mention shoulders as well.
I can't find a single vid on YT showing surgery for a shoulder triceps tear. Numerous ones for elbow however.

Again you keep saying tricep tear but is it your tricep or tricep tendon that is torn huge difference. Tendons attach to bones muscle attach to tendons. Did the muscle tear off the tendon. Did your tendon tear in half. Did the tendon disconnect from the bone. Or is tendon and muscle tendon attachment intact and the tear is in the belly of the muscle all very different things
