I recall her stint as a dancer on
In Living Color. She struck me as reminiscent of many inner-city Puerto Rican girls from New York during the 70s to the 90s. If you frequented NYC during that era, you'd find girls like her everywhere, especially in certain neighborhoods like the Bronx, El Barrio, Lower East Side, and parts of Brooklyn. Consequently, her facial features didn't strike me as particularly unique. Beyond her face, I found her body proportions lacking (awkward legs, angular elbows, a posterior better suited for a middle-aged mother). It perplexed me why she garnered so much acclaim for her physical appearance. Shifting away from her looks, her vocal abilities were subpar, often replaced by voiceovers from other singers. So what remained? Her dancing. Undoubtedly, she had skill in that department, but so did countless other inner-city kids from New York. She danced proficiently, akin to any other backup dancer, without any exceptional flair.
Again, I just never understood what the deal was. Affleck has had way better and why he chose to get back with her after she rode Sean Combs' prostate massager is beyond me. Who knows what's spreading. Granted, rumor was that out of all the men she had ever been with, she had a particular affinity towards him (i.e. the one that got away, kind of like Madonna with Sean Penn).
