An idiot can make it through boot camp. The rest of your time is getting up early, doing menial tasks, manual labor and waiting.

This isn't an insult to those who served. Of course things like boot camps and hard labor build a comradery and brotherhood, which is also commendable.

But there are so many convicts, felons, junkies, wife beaters, radicals, zealots, career cab drivers, failures, weirdos and extremists who served.

It can be commendable but it's not the time you served, it's what you did with that time.

So Brian was in the military? So what? He has zero character. Zero integrity, very little discipline, no respect for others, no respect for authority... fuck, if push came to shove Brian would fuck over a fellow veteran in heartbeat.  Brian's only loyalty is to himself.
