Not what he’s saying. He’s saying you have to include your children in your will. But let’s say you want to give it to a charity or friend? Why should your kids get your assets if you want it to go elsewhere?

? I didn’t say anything has to go to your children. I was commenting about laws. You can give your money to who or whatever you want and you have to have a designated recipient, unless you’re married, to receive what is yours unless you want the state to take control of the distribution of your assets.  .

There are many institutions and people that have proven they can’t effectively handle money. But I don’t think government will be responsible with most people assets.

In his trust, Gene Hackman left $80M to his late wife, Betsy Arakawa. It isn't clear if he named his three adult children in his trust (will). Some reports suggest he left nothing to them. Weird. This is further complicated because Arakawa's death preceded Hackman's.
