I just watched a horror movie

I can't tell you how disappointed I was about the parachutist that landed in the crocodile farm and THEY DIDN'T SHOW ANYTHING!!!

I know! There were many disappointments. Still a classic though.

Today's horror movies just don't have the same scare factor or psychological impact that the old ones do.  Maybe it's because we are numb to it.  Or maybe because every theme has been done to death.  In the 80s it was different because they were pushing the boundaries a bit more and studios and censors were relaxing the rules some.  But today it takes something truly original to catch on.

Like many other "modern" things they suck - shitty effects, actors, sadism and zero atmosphere...

I'm not sure when I last saw a very good horror movie. One can rewatch is the hills have eyes remake, big scale epic kinda feel to it, not confined but works well. Wish ted levine lasted longer in it though.

Watched "Talk To Me" last night. This was actually a really good concept and a bit original.  It was slow at times, but 3 out of 5 stars.

28 Years Later is coming out in June.  I really liked the first two so may make an effort to see it in theaters.

While these are not scary movies, if someone is looking for something really good to watch on Netflix, I have very recently enjoyed :
Hooligan -  excellent
Wyatt Earp and The Cowboy War - excellent
Alpha - kind of Disney-ish but good.
American Primeval - excellent
 
and currently watching El Chapo.

I stopped with el chappo, just couldn't get into it ir care.
American primeval was great, non stop gritty action.

28 Years Later is coming out in June.  I really liked the first two so may make an effort to see it in theaters.
