It means that a boxer can gain as much weight as they can after the weigh-in.  Weigh-in is a day before the bout.

I picked Canelo to win but was happy to see Bud perform so well.  :)

I picked Bud to win. Mainly because Canelo has been fighting bored. He wasn't hungry for the knockout,  couldn't summon the energy to cut off the ring, didn't force the fight etc... he just fought very uninspired for a few years now, burnout.

My only hesitation was the weight and how it would affect Bud, but it turned out to be a non issue.

It didn't really live up to expectations, did it. Canelo looked powerful, and you could see his gameplan early on, but he just had no urgency. As you say, it was uninspired. Crawford boxed well but he was just a little too cautious, IMO. It wasn't quite the dominant boxing masterclass one would have hoped for. He could have taken more risks and put a bit of a beating on Canelo in those last few rounds.

Canelo/his team must have known he was down on the scorecards, yet he didn't make much of an effort to go looking for a knockout in the later rounds.

I did consider that too. Canelo was repeatedly turning his head and looking to the side like he subconsciously wanted out, but I wouldn't dare lay that kinda accusation on a fighter like Canelo.

Something about those last few rounds just doesn't sit right with me

He has done this in recent bouts after taking a good shot.  It's like he's resetting or showing that he's not hurt.  Has he ever been hurt?  The whiskers on my fellow ginger.  :)

Agreed Wiggs.  Bud is the best fighter I've seen since prime Roy Jones Jr.  Yes, I think he'd beat Mayweather at any weight they fought at.  It would be close no doubt but I ride with Bud.  Speaking of Roy, prime Roy knocks Tommy Hearns out cold.  Got that DJ!
