I am shocked, but happy.  The dude was not funny to begin with.  His comments were terrible.  Maybe this is the start of an awakening for the media?

People might call this some form of censorship but I don't know that it is.  The headline I read last night said the FCC put pressured on ABC to do this?

To me, this looks more like a business decision.

The FCC weighing in does make it dicey, because the First Amendment only applies to government actors.  But in terms of ABC, Disney, etc. firing him over speech, that is absolutely not a free speech issue.  Unless they were pressured or ordered to do so by the federal government.

Nexstar Announces It Won't Air Jimmy Kimmel's ABC Return

Nexstar announced its local ABC affiliates will not be airing Jimmy Kimmel's show for the foreseeable future "pending assurance that all parties are committed to fostering an environment of respectful, constructive dialogue in the markets we serve," even after Disney's leadership announced the program would return on Tuesday evening.

The media company suggested that Kimmel's slot would be covered by local news programming.

Sinclair Broadcast Group also said it would not show Kimmel after his show returns Tuesday. According to the AP, the two corporations collectively control about a quarter of ABC affiliates.

I did not watch Jimmy Kimmel Live before, but because I am interested in his "comeback" opening monologue tonight, I will watch it on Xfinity's streaming app. I would watch it on ABC except the Sinclair affiliate is not airing it. This afternoon I watched the show aired on 9/15/2025 and did not think his comments were as bad as the media made them seem. I turned it off shortly after the opening monologue because I lost interest in the show. I think my parents subjected me to too many Steve Allen and Jack Parr late night shows in the mid to late 50's so I find this format rather boring.
