A 6000 (?) year old civilization ended by a megalomaniacal narcissist from a 249 year old civilization doesn't sound that great to me. Even if I hate their current regime.

I think hitting those world heritage sites is a shame too, some site was hit in Iran. I thought it was a crime when the Taliban bombed the Buddhas from the 6th century.

IMO Trump desperately looking for an off-ramp. Trump claims he cancelled a planned strike a few days ago because the Gulf states asked him not to. Israel and Bibi pushing hard for Trump to resume the war. Though I suspect a decision has been made already, perhaps even a long time ago. Trump can't just leave like this as a loser but OTOH he knows the other alternative is potentially catastrophic also.
Many say Trump can leave as he is the master of spin and can claim a loss as a win.

Seems like the whole military operation was just made up day by day as they went along instead of having a carefully thought out plan with phases, end goals etc. Also no proper coordination with allies except Israel.
