It's alot bigger than one man.  Can you explain why many of the original officials from the "real" NABBA bailed and affiliated themselves with the "faux" NABBA when the split occured  ???   They can't all be wrong for siding with Lopez if the reasons behind the NABBA split didn't have some truth to it.

there was no split.   As I was told:  Jose Lopez was president of NABBA Australia when he was arrested on a drug charge.  When he got off on a technicality, he tried to resume his duties as head of NABBA Australia.  NABBA said thanks but no thanks.  He got upset and formed NABBA International.  No one recognizes NABBA International as the "real" NABBA.    The only contests with the NABBA International name have been the ones that NAC has put on.

The only countries that seem to be aligned with Jose Lopez's NABBA is New Zealand and Greece.   Yet Greece has sent athletes to the other (real) NABBA World Championships as well.

NAC is its own org, and it's doing well.  Jose Lopez just slaps his name on their contests.  In Europe the posters they used to advertise their Universe and their World Championships last year all had NAC on it.   NABBA wasn't even mentioned.

I'm assuming that the story you heard came from Klaus Hoffman (who also runs WFF - BTW did you know that there is also another WFF based I think in Latvia?), Bob Gruskin and Graeme Lancefield?

I personally know a few competitors who were with NABBA for more than 10 years, but they also decided to support the "faux" NABBA and they know the history and story behind the split.  Incase you weren't aware, it had alot to do with misappropiation (sp?) of money/accounts as well as number of other things.

The story you heard about Jose isn't all true - yes he did time, but it was at the recommendation of Jose that Lancefield was brought in as temporary Australian president.  During that time Lancefield became close to Hoffman, and started pushing the WFF and he wanted to stay in charge when Jose was ready to resume his role.  In Australia, NABBA is closely associated with the WFF - in fact more support is given to the fitness orientated WFF than bodybuildings NABBA, and is now promoted as a NABBA/WFF event.  A lot of Australian bbers are pissed over the way things have be run, especially the fact that no large teams are sent to the Worlds/Universe anymore especially when compared to when Jose ran the organisation and would send up to 12 athletes.

As for it being a Jose Lopez,New Zealand and Greece affair - not true..... Spain, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Thailand, Belgium, Greece, Switzerland, Serbia and Montenegro, Ukraine, UK, Slovakia,  Argentina, Colombia, Morocco, Holland, Phillipines, Uganda, Turkey, Pakistan as well as competitors from Australia and USA are also represented.  Competitors who also compete in the "real" NABBA, also compete with Lopez's NABBA - so it's no surprise to me that athletes are jumping back and forth :)  http://www.nabba-international.org

In regards to Klaus Hoffman and his WFF, he has also been accused by the  "other" WFF for the same things that resulted in the split of NABBA.  Edmundas Daubaras is the president of WFF, and he also works with the "faux" NABBA/NAC.  The NAC is run by the same guys who were part of the original German NABBA guys years ago, but for some reason they decided to sever ties with Klaus, NABBA and WFF and join the "faux" crew.  I wonder why?

Personally I think that all this bitching between the two groups is pathetic, and I could care less who is the real "NABBA" and who is right or wrong, just as long they keep putting on the shows and competitors have shows to do.

 :)

the thing is, it's perfectly ok for someone to leave one org and form another.  if the German delgation left NABBA and formed NAC, more power to them.   but when Lopez is told his services are no longer needed, and a criminal record is a valid reason to not want someone to be your representative for an entire country, he doesn't just declare that he's the real president of the Australian chapter, he declares himself the president of the whole thing.   If he wants to start his own org, that's ok, just come up with a new name.

Grimek, Reeves and Schwarzenegger all won the NABBA Universe.  Charles Mario won that same contest in 2005.   Andreas Frey won a different contest, the NAC Universe.

This guy looks amazing, the sad thing is.. I'm not sure if he ever competed in the IFBB. If he didn't, I would think he would have done great!

he would have to spend 3 years doing nationals/USA NPC events to 'pay his dues', which is a logistical nightmare for a guy living on limited means in his country, GER.  Also, he'd be 30 or 31 before he got his pro card, with everyhting else perfect.

Why not jump at age 26 and cash in now?  PDI doesn't put in that 3-5 year roadblock to a pro card like NPC does.

I hope you're joking.  He would just need to win his country's IFBB national championships.    Dennis Wolf would have been his main competition.  How does he compare to Dennis?
