my other point was that the average fan would think that the Europa Super Show refers to the bodybuilding contest and not the entire expo, and that 13th annual is a bit misleading. Years from now, no one will remember there was an expo along with the contest. Couldn't you call it the Southwest Pro at the Europa Super Show?

It's like college football bowl games. Look up in a sports almanac, it will show a list of the winners of the Fiesta Bowl or the Sugar Bowl. It won't use a different name for every year with a different corporate sponsor.

It' common for the sponsor to have its name attached to the title/namsake. Does the John Deere Classic sound like a golf tournament to you?

Europa Sports is a wholesale distributor that distributes various supplement brands to gyms, health foods stores, etc. Sory of like where I work at DNA Sports that does the same thing. We nor they sell direct to individuals, you need a resale liscense to buy products. As for them sponsoring the show, I think it is great. We sponsor a number of shows on a local level, including the NPC shows for the last 10+ years. As for the name, I still tend to use the Europa Southwest Pro show, it is easier to keep it for the record books.

pretty much everyone who would watch the John Deere Classic knows John Deere is a company. the point was that many of us didn't know that Europa Super Show was named after a sponsor. Perhaps it needs to be the Europa Sports Products Super Show.

Actually, most people that buys supplements and products and bars have no idea who Europa Sports or DNA Sports are. We cater to the resalers, and are behind the scenes. If you go to a store, people want Muscletech products, BSN products, CytoSports products... or a brand name like Hydroxycut, or Xenadrine. They don't know that Hydroxycut is by Iovate, and Xenadrine is by Bodyonics Pinnacle.

Maybe true but Palumbo "not a pro" takes more sh t than anyone one the planet however you don't see him complaining on a radio show let alone any web site $:-\$ that being said, Shawn does make it entertaining...

Ok here is my point... again. Euorpa is about Corporate Sponsor's coming to the table to buy sponsorship $$$.
It has exploded with Corporate Sponsor's...So the name was perfect to grow this show to the next level.
It has sold out with fans & sponsor's since their participation...The perfect name for a Promoter.

My point again...The name doesn't matter..what they bring to the table does.

90% of the time, yes.

However, if you tried to sell, say, DogShyt brand cookies, you couldn't, no matter how good they tasted.

That being said, Europa is kinda a cool name for a show. I actually did think it was the Euro grand prix tho, and is seems they don't get all muscle-techy with ads in MD and FLEX.

Maybe you are really onto something. Then is Dogshyt cookies really took of in the dog world, we could have the 2007 Dogshyt Championship Breaders Classic. I have an idea for a cool (or steamy) logo.

I haven't got the list of competitors from the IFBB yet, so I will post when I get it from them.
Last year we had around 100 in the Pro Show.

Tim - While it's true that the average fan may not know what 'Europa' refers to, the reality is that most fans don't care why a show has a particular name. That only matters to the primary sponsor(s).

Right now, it's the Europa Super Show and in a few years, if Europa drops its level of sponsorship, it can become the DNA Super Show or simply the Southwest Super Show or whathaveyou. I think keeping 'Super Show' in the title will allow them to continue to build that show brand identity for decades to come.

It's a great event and definitely worth the trip to Texas.

There you go, the Texas Pro Championship Super Show, sponsored by title sponsor Europa. Sounds good. This year, it shall be the Europa Texas Southwest Arlington near Dallas Grand Prix Pro show.

Just like when people called it the Shawn Ray Colorado Pro Show, it was just the Colorado Pro Show. Although we all knew it was Shawn being the main promoter of the show and all.

Bottom line, Ed & Petty always put on a good show, venue and the people love it. Time to go this year guys!

I was just pointing out that there is *something* in a name. You couldn't open a Michael Jackson Daycare Center either

I like Europa though. Cool name, and last years show looked to be one of the more open and exciting ones ,along with the Charlotte. I might borrow my dad's boat and head over from Florida to TX for the show. How long a trip is there?
