no beef, I just don't like foreigners who get rich over here and then question our military, who are dying while he's prospering.
Nobody says "I'm against the troops" that'd be almost as fucking stupid as half of your posts. People have issues with the government's decision to go to war.

2) Steroids. To compete in baseball, some guys do steroids. To compete in bodybuilding, all of the guys have to do steroids. Not exactly family friendly. No parent is going to encourage their kid to join a sport that requires injecting synth into your tricep to make it bigger.

3) Lack of talent. You aren't getting the best of the best. You're getting the best of the people who couldn't do something better. Plenty of pro athletes and pro wrestlers have physiques that could easily compete with pro bodybuilders, but they have something better to do.

I agree here, we are getting the best of those who are willing to do and associate with the drugs and drugscene.  They are also willing to decrease their life span.  This isn't exactly a huge pool to begin with.

your first two points are somewhat valid.  but i dont agree with the 3rd one.  what else did the bbers try to do, but couldnt?  and which ones?  acutally, many other athletes and pro wrestlers are fans of the sports.  and which other athletes that have phsyques that could "easily compare to the pros".  i dont know of any.

bbing will never be mainstream and it shouldnt.  soccer and hockey will never be mainstream either.

Don't know of any? The WWE is full of guys who are not only as big as BB pros, but stay lean all year round and can do backflips off of the top ropes. John Cena, Batista, Chris Masters, etc., etc. Shoot, The Ultimate Warrior was huge and had veins popping out of his eyelids. I'm not a fan of wrestling, but those guys are amazing athletes and most are built like bodybuilders (only they're 6'6" instead of 5'6"). Other sports? Pick an NFL reciever or tailback. Check out the juiced up baseball players. Canseco is an old man and he is huge.

And soccer is the most popular sport in the world.

It seems that the 5'10" or below is the right size for putting on huge amounts of mass.  The tall guys like Roland Kickenger, no mater how much mass they can add just don't look as massive as the 5'9" guy like Nasser who, at a time was the most massive guy on any stage.  Ronnie 5'10" and that's stretching it, but when a BB hits 6' they must have a harder time keeping muscle on such a long frame.  Even Gunter @ 6'1" and He's probably the largest contender in the pack.  What did Federov finish last 0?  16 out of 16?

It's bullshit that bodybuilding is a gay sport.  It's bullshit that it's a sport too.  In its competitive form, it's an original art form that exploits pushing the body to its ultimate condition.  If some people eroticize that, it says more about them than bodybuilding.

As for its being mainstream, bodybuilding would have to give up too much of what it is to appeal to Mr. or Ms. Average.  The best arbiter for a mainstream look is what sells in films, and the slim look remains in.  If anyone beefs up for a role, he'd better ratchet it down for his next role or he'll quickly find himself typecast & limited in Hollywood.

Dexter is 3 apples high, so that'd make Lee 2.5

I read that Lee was going to see the new Superman movie, but I remember when I was 3 and only 3 feet tall it sucked going to the movies cuz I couldn't see over peoples heads. I feel bad for the little fella, but at least he gets the kids ticket price.

Not exactly.  The spectacle of bodybuilding appeals primarily to bicurious and closeted men--not gays.  Gay men are perfectly comfortable walking into a porn shop and selecting very explicit porn of their choice (body type, sex act, interracial, toys, etc)--something a closeted or curious “straight” guy would not do.  We are also perfectly comfortable going to a local gay bar or other venue and hooking up with whomever we want . . .

So sitting around watching midgets flexing is not enough to get our hearts racing.  That may have been exciting at 13 but not at 23, 33, or 43.  Adult male fans of bodybuilding are essentially gay men with emotionally stunted development--stuck at 13.

Some guys grow out of this and accept who they are.  Others, for a variety of reasons (religion, family, other baggage) deny their real appetites and engage in the safe, socially accepted pastime of watching bodybuilders over and over again in shows and on video.  ;)
hmmmmmm well I got into bodybuilding because I had gotten fat and out of hsape. While digging up info for myself I started to learn about competitive bodybuilding and got interested after awhile. I think this just clicked something in my mind though. Bodybuilding is gay as hell. I think I'm done here.

hahahaha, so true.
I nearly choked to death when i found out Markus Ruehl was the same height as i am!
He looked so big in the magazines, but then he's not the biggest, and seeing him in real life makes him look somewhat grotesque.

As for Soccer and Hockey aren't mainstream:

ahahahahahahahahahahahah ahaahahahahaahahaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa hahahaahahhahaahahahahah ahaahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaa a

Name me two sports that are more mainstream in europe!
Man, in england, even pool and darts are mainstream, but bodybuilding isn't mainstream anywhere in the world!
the reasons are mentioned above.

I thought Markus was like 5'll.

BULLSHIT. Just because you hang around fags all the time doesn't mean everyone else is a fag. Bodybuilders and other people who lift weights are no more "gay" than the rest of the population. That myth was debunked a long time ago.

Isn't Markus 5'11?

What does B.B. have to do with gayness? I'm sick of that s@#$!

If anything, you have to be more confident and secure with what you are because of all the gay associations that people make.

Well it appears kind of gay. I enjoy the competitions and can appreciate the male physique.  But I can honestly say it does nothing for me sexually, sorry gay it just does not......and believe me I tried.

People are just wired different some like the opposite sex some the same sex and others both.  The aggressive gay guys out there give me the creeps.
