Flex BS: Branch’s diet
« on: August 12, 2006, 11:05:41 AM »

I read in flex (Phil on the cover) that Branch takes in 400g carbs in the off season and 50 pre contest and he diets 12-14weeks out

With 50g card a day you wont be able to move after a week; regardless training

Does anyone monitor these articles or they just get printed as submitted by the author??

Dude 50g carbs a day is doable. Your body starts using calories to burn from all the extra protein you take in.

Im at 100g or less a day right now, I feel great.. the first few weeks are horrible, but then your body adapts and metabilises the calories from your protein for energy.

On a Ketogenic diet, 30g is normal.  You can actually make your body shift to deriving energy from your fat stores and essential fats you take in.  It's rough but doable if you're disciplined and can stay focused.  Just don't knock the calories so low (mild deficit) because you are already stressing the body enough on severely restricted carbs.

You can move, but you can't lift weights with any kind of intensity.

Exactly.

Do I think that 50 g of carbs is doable? Sure, but not for ANYONE who's not on drugs and trying to keep their hard earned muscle mass.

I dont know much about BB Diets but when i got to be a super fat ass (215 at 5'5") I cut carbs to 5..  yes five a day and still had descent energy. My workouts sucked but it was doable....

Very doable.  Try 0 grams of carbs.  Basically, a modified Atkins diet (good fats as the energy source) is similar.  Forget the anabolics though--that isn't enough to keep going during the day.  Coffee & plenty of clenbuterol will definitely assist.
