Baroni news
« on: August 02, 2006, 11:59:41 AM »
apparently he is rumoured to be fighting one of the top ranked MW fighters in the UFC thanks to the working agreement between UFC and Pride. He wants to fight Rich Franklin and actually said he would knock him out! HA HA. Rich franklin is the only UFC fighter in the middleweight class i can think of that would wipe his arse with Baroni and fluch him down the toilet in the same breath.

Alsao, there is a proposed fight against frank Shamrock coming up. As for the result, see above.

I'm surprised that someone that has had 3 fights could make this statement.  You never know what's gonna happen in the fight game, my friend...maybe as you work you way up towards 100 fights you will finally realize this.  Until then it can be a tough road unless you NEVER take any opponent lightly.

I won't believe either of those fights are going to happen, until I see them.

Frank Shamrock is full of empty promises, It took him three years to fight Cesar Gracie, a fighter that isn't even considered a threat in mma, although he is an accomplished trainer/BJJ practitioner.  Some of the guys from Jackson's in N.M.(where Nate has been training lately) seem to be implying that Baroni is the main candidate for Nate's next fight.

That's why Marquardt is the front runner of potential opponents for Baroni.  Although, Marquardt beat the guy who just beat Baroni (Kazuo Misaki).  If this fight goes down, I will take Marquardt for the UD.  He can easily take Baroni down and lay on him for the win, plus Baroni is notorious for having shitty cardio.

I don't want to see Baroni fight again. Once I thought he had potential, not any more.

ive only had 3 sanctioned Muay Thai fights, but ive had enough real fights to know when a person is out of his depth. If Phil Baroni took on Rich Franklin then he wouldnt stand even a punchers chance. Rich is the best MW ive seen for a long time, he comes at you like a bull and has unmatched striking in his division. Baroni relies on his punching power, hes a slugger at best. If you gove him the chance to knock you out then he will, but someone of Rich Franklins caliber wont give you a second. Hes on you like a fly around shit if you make a mistake and it would be easy prey for him

Yep!  Case closed...Rich would slaughter Baloni!!!  Maybe Phil could come to Vegas and have a prison fight sanctioned with CT, he would have a better chance there since Craig is off the needle now... ;D

Anderson Silva would take Ace to school in the stand up department.

Ace hasn't fought any decent southpaws in his career, and when he did, he lost.  Anderson is a southpaw, but can fight just as effective out of the orthodox stance.  Ace's punches are a little sloppy (looping), something that Anderson and his laser-like strikes could capatalize on.  Andeson's Muay Thai is much more crisp than Ace's.  The ground game is about even, maybe a slight advantage to Ace, but the stand-up definatley goes to the spider.

Anderson would be a bad matchup for Ace IMHO.  Ace would need to take it to the ground and GNP.  Baroni/FShamrock would be Enson/FShamrock II.  I doubt it will happen, but Frank is one of my favorites.  I just wish he would fight better fighters.

Anything could happen in a fight but do you really believe Baroni would beat Franklin?

If so do you still believe in Santa Claus?
