Hey,

Just wonderng if anyones heard of this. I have perfect health otherwise normal Bloop pressure ect...

He asked me how my diet was and I told him I usto eat lots of fast food and junk food but for the past few months ive been trying to eat healthy and gain some weight. I told him I usually eat between 4-8 eggs a day topped with chili powder to mask the taste) a can of tuna, lots of PB on rice cakes, fruit veggies and what ever is for dinner like chicken or steak. I also take 4 (40g) scoops of protean powder and multi vits.

He told me then to only eat the eggs once or twice a week, cause there really bad for you and they will catch up with you when you are older...

Now this goes against what ive heard for years about eggs, I usto buy those 250ml egg whites (8 eggs) and had one of those a day with a couple eggs but I noticed I gain more if I am on normal eggs.

My question is why would the doc say this, has anyone EVER heard this before, is it just the colesterol in them thats bad, has anyone (who has ate them all their life at this pace) had problems later in their life?
For a day it kinda had me thinking, but im back eating them again... im just wondering what you all think of this considering a lot of you are pro or atleast semi pro and eat probably way more eggs than I do and have done it for longer.

Thanks in advance,

X

I think Eating too many yolks is bad, I have 9 egg whites with 2 yolks everyday and the doc told me that was alright.....the yolks have "good cholesterol" Tuna seemed to be his concern with the high mecury content but I don't care i still eat it.

IMO theres nothing wrong with whole eggs, they taste much better and are great for bulking, i eat 4-6 whole eggs every morning during the off-season....as long as the rest of your diet isnt loaded with other saturated fats and cholesterol youll be fine

all nonsense. the egg white thing is nonsense. whole eggs will not raise your cholesterol. all the old school guys ate eggs every day. Hogan used to eat a dozen every morning. Vince Gironda who lived to 79 or whatever and was considered one of the most knowledgable bodybuilding people of all time, he was ripped into his 60's and he said he made his best gains at 3 dozen eggs a day.

eggs arent bad for you.  They do contain fat and good cholesterol.  If you cholesterol is high, i would maybe switch brands of PB to something that isn't hydrogenated.  That sort of thing can raise cholesterol levels as well as triglyceride levels

Don't overcomplicate things.  Eat egg whites.  With less fat and calories you can maintain a high protein intake (and eventually you forget what the yolks even taste like).

If you totally eliminate the yolk you not only loose the flavor but the lecithin as well.

I usto eat more eggs whites than yolks in a ratio of 4:1 but lately ive been eating the whole egg... I don't like the taste either way so thats not a concern to me if it tastes better or worse with or without the yolk.

Has there been any "tests" done or does anyone know what is really in the yolk and the whites when there seperated?

Ive noticed more gains when I do eat whole eggs but if this is just fat im adding or extra colesterol or anything I don't actually need id rather eliminate it... Everyone has different opinions of course and obviously the yolks are the part thats worse for you but how much of the good stuff are you missing if you cut the yolks completly?

THanks again for the replies,

X

lecithen is easily supplemented and the poster says taste isn't an issue

Doctors for the most part are against anything extra that will help you build muscle.  Protein powders, creatine, vitamins, bcaaa's etc:  That includes eating more protein type foods.  When it comes to bodybuilding and you are not overweight and do not exhibit any other health problems.  Eat a diet that will get you your gains!

Eggs are fine, your doctor is living in the past. They do raise your bad cholesterol a little, but they also raise your good cholesterol. The ratio between the two is whats important.
