That's the whole problem with them and one of the reason's I tend to steer people away. if you plan on putting on a light and doing something other than watching a movie in a darkened room it's useless. BUT it is excellent for doing just that, especially a good one with a shitload of lumens and a good contrast ratio. You can stretch those bitches over 100 inches.
