« on: September 01, 2006, 04:54:22 AM »
i just got news from my doctor that my chol level is 243 and my good chol level is 9 which he said was incredably low. i didnt mention to him my as history. he put me on crestor i was wondering if their were any drs on this board that might have some insight on this. my stats are as follows; 40 yoa, 6-03 270 around 10-12 % bf, using as on off 10 week cycles for past 8-9 years. currently running test at 600mg, eq at 750mg, just stopped using d-bol at 20mgday for 25 days. usually only use oral first 4 weeks(d-bol) and 4-6 weeks befor a contest only once a year usually anavar at 25-30mg. thanks for any help.

Freakfestmd is a doc, but he hasn't been on here as much lately. As far as you not telling your doc your history, go ahead and tell him. 1 of 2 things will happen, he'll bitch you out or he'll give some sound advice, either way you'll be fine because he is bound by doctor/patient confidentiality laws.

youll have to be tested again when you are clean to see if it is back to normal. if you are not, then medication will be an option...but not being honest with your doc when there is a problem might do more harm than good.

You should be straight with your doc.  I don't know if Crestor is particularly hard on the liver, but you should ask him before taking it while your on gear.  I assume you had a full blood work-up and liver function tests, as well??

Within 2-3 weeks, 'roids will raise your total cholesterol, while lowering the "good" HDL levels and skewing the HDL to LDL ratio.  It will also typically raise your triglyceride levels into the high range, likewise with hemocrit/hemoglobin levels.

I was straight with my doc and when I told him what I gear I did and what I took in an effort to minimize the side effects, he agreed with me.
No alcohol intake (other than perhaps ONE glass of red wine now and then)
Take supplements of Glutathione and Milk Thistle
Limit cholesterol intake (obvious)
Take 1/2 to 1 full aspirin per day, depending on your bodyweight and whether your stomach can take it.
Make sure there is a period of MONTHS (not weeks) that you are completely OFF gear.  The body is very resilient, especially the liver, and needs time to restore itself and normalize levels.

Just my $.02...

Well..didnt u ask your doctor how serious it was? I took my cholesterol level test after a friend of my got a heart attack at age 33(he has done VERY heavy cycles). I told the doc that I was on steroids. My good cholesterol level was very low, but so was my bad level. So he said its not dangerous as long as the bad cholesterol also is low. I dont remember my cholesterolnumbers right now though.
