Whats the deal with Dream Tan???
« on: September 28, 2006, 08:00:49 AM »
why do european pros love that stuff? it looks horrible, and it makes european physiques look even more similar than they already do. why don't they use the usual fake bake + Pro Tan?

dream tan can prduce great results when used correctly...the problem is most of these guy put way too much on...it ends up taking away from their muscularity and defenition...alot of guys also use formula 1 instead of 2 ....form 1 gives that look of a statue which judges hate.

i have found that applying 2 or 3 coats of pro tan starting wed. and then touching it up with a light coat of dream tan formula 2 on the morning of pre judging works great.

hmmm lets see.
You dont need a tan.
You can apply it in about 10 mins rather then have to do coat after coat with pro tan.
It comes off easy so you don't have to contend with brown elbows and knuckles for weeks.
Gives a good colour.

I say, enough of this crap on any bodybuilders. Its rediculous and another thing for the public to ridicule about the sport. It bullshit, There is not need to darken your skin to be able to see cuts, in fact it would seem to be the exact opposite. Hire good lighting designers and the need for this stupid trend would be over.

If used CORRECTLY with a decent base tan, dream tan can and does look great on stage.
Many old school judges I have known hate Dream Tan and feel it looks really fake.
I think , it can help a good physque look better if you use it correctly.
Some guys look like an actual bronze metal statue with it on sometimes.

Dream tan is fine, but the benefits of a tanning in the sun is much better phyisologicaly, besides helping you get a great tan (provided your body type is capable of that) the sun is a dramatic aid in ridding water and making your skin a much tighter and giving a drier look.

Bodybuilders today have become so reliant on drugs and fake products, I seriously don't think they take into consideration of using natural and old school methods. If you time your tanning properly before a show and regulate your water intake, there should be no need for diuretics. Todays contest prep has becaome as lazy as their training methods!

BTW, if there is no sun.....use a tan bed, ALMOST the same effect!!

dream tan 2 (not 1) looks very good if you apply it over like3 coats
of pro-tan LIGHTLY. So you're using almost like it was oil to add a little shine and even out the pro tan.

that's the catch; some guys have used it by itself and it does look bad when you use it too heavily...

I can understand why bodybuilders are tempted to use dream tan and other such products... I'm Irish myself, and only saw the sun for the first time this year, while on holiday in the US.

Seriously guys, cut these guys a break. Some of us northern Europeans are a pale blue colour... we require several weeks of gradual tanning just to attain whiteness.

no i meant similar. maybe its b/c most european shows are full of white caucasians whose names i don't know, but their individual physiques don't pop out like they do here.
