Is fish the Healthiest & Best Protein Source?
« on: October 02, 2006, 07:19:21 AM »
This is for gaining and bulking.

Apparently it digests better, more nutrients are absorbed, and is also a lot healthier than beef and chicken, as it contains less fat and not genetically tampered with (as now days chooks are on more drugs than Palumbo).

Thanx for the advice

Red meat contains more fat and creatine.

Fat is not bad, creatine is good. Red meat also contains certain cholesterols that boost your testeron.

So don't exclude meat from diet. Just don't make the stupid mistake of eating pounds of them like in the nineties, 200 or 300 gram a day is enough.
Contains about 50 grams off proteine.

If your main goal is to gain weight,
make sure your diet contains plenty of healthy fats. If you don't, you have to eat a lot of carbohydrates, and that's stupid.
Fat contains twice as much energy as a carbohydrate,
fat doesn't need extra water (fluid) to be digested. Every gram of carbohydrate needs an additional 3 grams of water to be digested.

i woudln't look too much into it..just any good clean protien source should be sufficient for most..but to answer your question straight up...

shrimp, crabs, and especially lobster are the best..figures they're the most expensive.  :-\
but no amount of seafood could ever replace the bleeding goodness of a 14oz so raw it's raw t-bone  :P ;D

I agree, vary your protein sources, they all have their unique advantages:
(1) fish is a very usable low fat protein source and the EFAs help when you're attempting to lean out: (2) eggs reportedly have the highest bioavailability as a protein source; (3) red meat has the advantage of the cholesterol needed to advance testosterone production (and may be the tastiest); and (4) whey protein is reportedly the most quickly absorbed.  Consume them all as well as others.

Also, don't forget brewers yeast, 14 g of protein, as well as 7 g of fiber, trace minerals and vitamins all in one.

The egg is the healthiest and best source of protein.  But variety is important, so eat plenty from all protein sources.

maybe a few pieces as a snack but the salt content of a sushi meal is not something you want on a daily basis

Sushi is higher calorie than most realize, plus the simple carbs from rice, plus the mayo you get in some of the rolls.  Stick with sashimi.
