I used to see it on the Ortho wards at the hospital where I work at times. It can occur after tib/fib fractures or radius/ulna fractures if there is lots of bleeding. They are careful to do regular neuro obs and minimise movement until someone is operated on. It seems to result from too much fluid in an enclosed space, like the compartments of the lower leg, that causes swelling, pain and nerve compression. The docs here treat it with anti-inflammatories, elevation and bedrest. Sometimes people with have a fasciotomy to release the pressure if it is really bad (i.e. deteriorating neurological function).
The jungle of the senses.

Find a chiro who knows active release technique (ART) ASAP!

Second best choice is a sports massage therapist

Compartment syndrome is when the fascia doesnt allow the calves to expand when used and it restricts blood flow and oxygen to the calves, which can lead to nerve damage....it can be chronic or either a case of being acute....my orthopedic surgeon thinks i may have compartment syndrome.... i have the same symptoms...cant run anymore, hurts to walk , i got the whole 9 yards.....their setting me up with a specialist to run the test to see if that is what it is....he has me on anti-inflamitories,,naproxen...I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this and to see what the results were
