I know who they are...they go traveling all over the world. They do lots of 'strongman' stuff to and carnival stuff...tear phone books in half, bend 1'' bars etc...

exactly

A very strong lift ofcourse and i don`t to take anything from him.
But you say no suits, and he has a deadliftsuit, I have lifted with those and they do help a lot but is not eaisy to go down to grip de bar with the suit on ;D

Yes backday, Andy does have a deadlift suit on.

However, of the 3 powerlifts, the deadlift probably gets RELATIVELY the least "augmentation/support" as compared to either the multi-ply bench and squat powerlifting competiton shirt/suits.

There have been several of these super heavy lifting DL'ers who have literally had the skin stripped from their hands trying to hang on to these monstrous poundages!

Pull up the vid with Tom Platz hittin 23 reps with 500lbs.
Your right. Tom Platz did some sick weight and some crazy reps too. I read somewhere once that he liked to do 100 rep sets for leg extentions.

The grip is very important ofcourse, I have long fingers so I dont have so many problems with it
but some time I`ve got blood in the hands ;D
Anyway I don`t like the deadlift suit, it does not protect you it`s very very uncofortable and is a cheat, for a lift of 300kg, almost 20 of them is the suit, but I don`t think you get more help the more you weigh.

Not as impressive as it COULD be considering that

1) he's a good two inches above parallel

2) he is "bouncing" out of the bottom position like a spring.

But still, 405 for that many reps, even with the shitty form, is not bad.

are you on crack, that form is excellent

that form was far from shitty, can you do that weight for 1 with that kind of form?

Like yourself, I don't like the DL suits because they are so binding that you can hardly bend down and grasp the bar.  I recall in one contest observing a lifter who was unable to complete an attempt because he couldn't literally reach the bar...he kept bouncin' up and down in a vain effort to grasp the bar...hilarious!

Still, you get even more support from the squat suits and bench shirts (which is a real joke, as some guys BP 100 lbs. more with one of these shirts).

Speaking of "suit free" powerlifting, here is a video of Finland's World's Strongest Man competitor, Jouko Ahola, doing a 360 kg/792 lb. DL for nearly 3 consecutive "rest pause" reps. wearing ONLY a lifting belt and knee wraps...

Nice lifts from Ahola and I don`t think he weighs as much as other big strongmen :)

You are not suggesting that you actually lift weights yourself do you? You do not seem the type who does heavy deadlifts.

Regarding the bench shirts, it's way past 100lbs assistance these days. Try 300 or 400lbs more!!!

You are absolutely right, Van_Bilderdass I only did a drug-free 605 lb DL, wearing just a 4" wide lifting belt, in my
prime (early/mid 20's) at a bwt. of 198 lbs. (mid-hvy. wgt. class).

However, I was also fortunate enough to win the 198 lb. class Jr. National (formerly Teen-Age National) Olympic weightlifting championships, while breaking the existing Jr. National record in the C&J by a full 20 lbs. (all drug-free, of course).

Let's see Van_Bilderdass, I've been weight-training (Olympic w-l, Powerlifting, and BB) since Tuesday, 2/8/55.  Let's see now, why that's nearly 52 looong years ago.

Nearly fifty-two (52) years of REGULAR training...why, why... that's some ten (10) years longer than the LIFE EXPECTANCY of a drug-bloated, "juiced-to-the-gills", BB freak like yourself...isn't it?!!

Now, let's get back to the subject of great feats of strength!

Can you tell me how somebody can be "a good two inches above parallel" AND also bounce out of the position?
If you're in the bottom position, you aren't nearly two inches above parallel. If you're two inches above parallel, how do you bounce out of the bottom like a spring?
Good contradiction. Try again.

Absolutely right!

The only time you would normally “rebound” out of the bottom position in a squat would be while performing a squat clean in Olympic weightlifting.  To try and use a “rebound from the bottom” style/form in a full front/back squat with maximum poundages, on a regular basis, is just begging for a serious knee injury!

For example, eight-time world and two-time Olympic weightlifting champion, America’s Tommy Kono, incurred a serious knee injury which eventually required knee surgery (as I recall) caused, in all probability, by many years of heavy rebound full squat cleaning and the intensive use of Olympic weightlifting assistance exercises such as full heavy front/back squats .

When you front/back squat, you tense your thigh muscles; descend in a slow, controlled, fashion; stop your descent on “muscle tension” with the tops of thighs parallel to the floor (or just below parallel-as in the case of competition); and recover as rapidly out of the “hole” as possible.
