Sales people do it all the time. I think it means that they are one on one with you and by calling you by name make you feel more important then sir, or hay. Sales people do it like were old friends who just met. Supposed to impress you when they remember your name, even though they have to look it up right before they make the call.

I do it, to make that person feel special once they tell me their name, and if they don't tell me their name I make sure to get it before commenting, it works good for business but better with girls they get all impressed I like that business
