Cortisone?
« on: October 23, 2006, 08:45:46 AM »
I go see a hand specialist thursday about my sprained finger.  I don't know if she will recommend cortisone in it to free the joint, but I have mixed feelings about that.     I've had cortisone in both wrists and IMO it made them even worse.

It will be 19 weeks on the 28th since I injured it.  Still hurts, swollen and about 1/2 the range of motion, hurts to bend it or to fully straighten it.

Maybe they will just give you some anti-inflamitorys and brace it again?? I'd try babying it before running to cortisone. but if thats what it takes then thats what it takes.

Now you have to use the other one for alone time, LOL!

If it still hurts after that long eiher it's an occult(unseen) fracture or a torm ligament, either way cortisone won't help.

The F.U.D is that it will be about another 6mos of healing time.   It will always be slightly swollen, and I should force it to bend.    And it will always hurt in the cold, and I will probably have arthritis in it.  I already have the wrists of an 80 year old, so who cares!!   >:(

Basically I am SOL and have to live with it.
    >:(

That stinks Flowey.  So much so that I won't even attempt to make a Moley joke :(

Yeah, what a waste of the copay.   :P

Next time I am really toasted I will force it to bend all the way.    Or I will let someone else do it.

So the dog I rescued from death has:

Eaten my couch requiring over 1g in vet bills for surgery.
Eaten the arm of the new leathercouch within an hour of it arriving.
Eaten the arm of a recliner. (replaced recliner)
Screwed up my finger for life.

Train the dogbefore you run out of fingers.

Cortizone fixes nothing, it hides the pain.  And if Cortizone is injected near a tendon, it will rot the tendon.
