8 weeks sober...
« on: November 22, 2006, 10:06:24 PM »
I am now eight weeks sober. Not quitting for life, but I gave it up for a couple months to really focus on gains, just very happy that I've done it. Go me.

Why not quit for life? I've been clean for 14 years, I couldn't imagine going back!

I actually love to drink. It's odd because I hate to be trashed. When I am on one of my little binges(usually 3-5 months) I do about a 750 of gin a day during the week and a handle on each weekend day but I am rarely trashed. Sometimes on the weekends. A handle of beefeater is alot of gin and that usually gets me goin but I'm never to the point of falling over or slurring my words. I wish I didn't love to drink because I think it's abolutely horrible for your body but I'm young still maybe my ways will change in the next few years.

I'm surprised your liver still functions at all.

Hey Puller good job.I am an alcoholic and have been sober almost 7 years.Iknow first hand the havic drinking can play on a person's life.It sure has mine. The only person who can decide you are drinking too much is you.In my opinion, if you can drink that much and not feel shit faced you should reconsider your drinking habits.A drinking problem can sort of creep up on you,and once you have crossed the line between social drinker and alcoholic drinker, you can never go back. Good luck. :)

It is said that on average your body will metabolise 1 drink per hour. This is what they tell you in rehab anyway. :) Theoretically, you could drink 1 beer or 1 drink every hour on the hour and never get drunk. One thing that you hear quite often is someone will say that beer goes right through them, that they just piss it right out. This is false; It is actually water you are pissing out,for the most part because alcohol is a diuretic.

A Long Island Iced Tea is a cocktail made with, among other ingredients, vodka, gin, tequila, and rum. A popular variation mixes equal parts vodka, gin, rum, tequila, and triple sec with 1 1/2 parts sour mix with a splash of cola. Close variants often replace the sour mix with sweet and sour mix or with lemon juice, and the cola with actual iced tea. Some chain restaurants even take the liberty of substituting brandy for the tequila.

:-\  that doesn't even sound good to me.I was never into the mixed drinks. I mostly drank beer(and lots of it)however,I did drink tequila straight every now and then, but never mixed drinks..too sweet for me.

I've taken to having a drink just before I go to bed - bit of rum usually does the trick. I've been having trouble sleeping recently (don't know why) so a nightcap is just the ticket to a good night's sleep.

Yeah,I know what you mean. That is what I used to do. Nothing like a twelve pack to put me to sleep.Always woke up refreshed the next morning for work.

I can't try it because I'm allergic to alcohol. It seems almost every time I drink, I break out in handcuffs. :-\

I'm not saying that I'm not an alcoholic. I'm saying I am, I'm just not drinking right now because I've put the gym as a higher priority and I'm happy about it.
