Gordon Brown or David Cameron?
« on: December 08, 2006, 04:02:03 AM »
Seeing as I know virtually nothing about American politics, I've decided to start a thread on British politics - mainly the question of who you'd like to see as the next British Prime Minister?

Personally, I'm torn between the two - I can see the pros and cons in each.

Discuss.

Neither. Both will continue leading us down the path we are currently heading. One's a dour, over-taxing ex-socialist and the other is an even limper version of the current PM.

I would like to see Davies or Hague back in charge of the Tories. They would say what the people want to hear, not the Blair-lite crap "just call me Dave" spews. I doubt this will happen, so I haven't got a clue who I will vote for.

Good point about Hague. He got the job much to soon when the tories were fucking themselves hard. He's a good politician and decent bloke. If he were leader now, I'm pretty sure the tories would get in at the next election. His mrs is fit as fuck too

Between Brown or Cameron, I don't really give a shit to be honest.

I won't 'hug a hoodie' Mr Cameron

Hague will always be known as a loser, decent bloke, sure. But he's been demolished one too many mornings.

Tories will never seriously challenge if they go with Hague, sorry. They need a serious contender.

Gordon Brown is a solid politician, and charismatic. It's all about whether or not you agree with his political views.

He will definitely be the next PM in UK IMO.

Will he ever be as popular as Blair was pre-Iraq? Doubt it.

Have to disagree with your description of Brown as charismatic, Hedge. The man is dour, charmless and lacks the ability to interact with the public, unlike Blair and Cameron.

It's not even a 100% certainty that he will lead the party once Blair goes. It's been said that Dr John Reid is likely to stand against him, and his reputation as a tough home secretary is likely to appeal to the British public at the moment. Much more so, than a chancellor with a history of plundering pensions and stealth taxes.
