I understand that they want the action to continue, but 5 minutes is not enough time to recover from that.
The worst part, of course, is that it's in the back of your mind that your opponent is a dirty fighter and that can definitely impact your game.

Kongo already broke Cro Cop's rib in the first round with roundhouse kicks.
Also, John McCarthy asked Mirko if he wanted to take a full 5 minutes and he refused, got back up, and started fighting again.

yeah rampage has an awareness of what he's saying, he knows he's cool and is joking around and because of that you cant hate on the guy in fact, its pretty amazing that he's so skilled with that kinda attitude... its like all attitude and joking around and skills too, what doesnt he have... |

Matt admitted in the post fight interview that the 2nd kick hit his upper leg and it hurt so bad that he faked the nut-sack kick. Watch it on the UFC site... |

thats bad sportmanship right there most actual knees are unintentional and even the few times theyre not, the one who gets numerous knees have the chance to put himself in another position... but faking getting kneed isnt cool |

When he lost to Gonzaga, he said he wasn't focused and didn't train in a cage. He also said that fighting in the UFC is more dangerous. I don't see that as making excuses. I think he's being honest. |
