...and inspired you. Three women who inspired me and were "role models" include Edith Warton and Virginia Woolf. Edith Wharton was born into a wealthy family... she threw aside the conventions to become a writer, more often than not, writing about people who were trapped by family/societal expectations. She was an unconventional rich girl, to say the least.
Virginia Woolf was a lesbian who liked to ride in men's breeches. She too was trapped by convention, but somehow managed to throw off the shackles (for some time at least, until her suicide) to write prolifically... including the novel Orlando, about a man who becomes a woman and is forced to live eternity in her skin.
Not gorgeous women... but very, very spunky!
