Disagree with Carter's politics all you want, I'll readily admit he was a bad politician and President but to question his intelligence is ridiculous.

His intelligence is beyond reproach and without question. There are two reasons someone would question Carter's intelligence, ignorance or partisan politics, either way it's pathetic.

He has actually helped people in his lifetime in a meaningful way which is a good thing no matter what his politics are. 

And asking if I'm in denial is the height of irony. 

Oh and why aren't you shouting from the rooftops anymore about your Savior's nomination? Have you actually seen it for what it truly is, namely a PR stunt?

Carter is a VERY smart man.

I don't think anyone here really believes the man is not smart.  The might disagree with him politically.  But the man possesses training, experiences, and a skillset which pretty much dwarf most of us, and a nice education as well.
