from markus-ruehl.de:

hey markus. how did you tear your chest?

I have heard a lot of rumors about this theme.

But I like to make this clear. I never tore my chest!

Usually a chest does not tear in the middle.

Maybe my chest looks different, because I was harder than the last years.

Actually I have no idea.

>>the first shot is from Olympia 2005 (when he came in "off" and watery)
*note nobody acused him of having a tear at this point so it's unknown if
he even had a tear on his pec.
>>the next is from ASC 2007, apparently much drier and leaner...
is the chest torn or not? you be the judge...

all pros lies about their injuries. I remember reading in MD that when Branch Warren tore his tricep he didnt tell anyone about it cause if the judges would have seen it he might have been scored down for it.

that gap in Ruhls chest has been getting bigger since 2004. I suspect nerve damage.

why is it that the only pro-bodybuilder with this issue is him? is it abnormal for a tear to happen there? howcome guys like branch, JOJ, and ronnie (who train kind of bad also) didn't tear it like that, or even at all...luck i guess...?

the only other example is scott steiner. but he's just dumb so we do expect him to destroy his body as time goes on. usually bodybuilders are more cautious...

Probably impaired blood flow to that part of the muscle so it is atrophying. Maybe due to nerve damage or built up scartissue. But most likely he is delusional enough to think that if he is not admitting this or that it was a tear, he will get away with it... He is done.

Steroids Indirectly cause the tear.

Steroids Indirectly cause the tear.

how? they don't weaken muscle fibers or anything like that.
the guy would have done the same thing to himself natural or not.
the way he trains is the way he trains, the resistance of his muscle fibres
to movement and stretching is the same.

if you mean by him being so jacked on Anabolics that he thought he could lift more than he usually does, and then injured himself. then you might have a point.

It's possible to have muscles & tendons grow disproportionately due to AAS.  This could lead to injury...

look at him before!
fantastic chest here (i think NOC)...it's a shame!
a chest cannot do what it did in ruhl's case
just from old age or time...bullshit.
the guy is lying about not tearing it...

He;s right they indirectly can play a role. The tendons and ligaments, tissues that hold muscle to bone, do not strengthen in relation to the muscles, causing them to tear, sometimes off the bone! Just cause you big does not mean you can withstand the added pressure from the heavier weights.

Bye bye bodybuilding :D  Nobody likes to look at a torn pec.  Simply gross.

Hasn't hurt Toney Freeman.

But Markus...come on...you and Ronnie BOTH have torn muscles. I'm getting sick of hearing this "nerve damage" excuse.

Toney Freeman's situation is totally different; his is your typical pec tear. Markus may actually have some type of nerve damage similar to Scott Steiner, as they both have this abnormal gap in their inner chest.

Because it is basically unheard of, from what I understand, to tear your pec from the sternum. It obviously looks like a tear, but how is there any way of knowing that it isn't due to some type of nerve damage.

"nerve damage" does not make muscle suddenly dissapear.  when it tears away from its attachment point it does. Why would you say this is unheard of? just because you havent heard of it. Any muscle can tear at any attachment point.

its a small tear. move on.

Steroids Indirectly cause the tear.

steroids "indirectly" do as in? ... oh do you mean that when you have 'too much muscle' that tendons and ligaments do not adapt to the weight being used and sometimes bear the load in some parts of a movement and tear off the bone/snap?

oh is that what you mean? oh in that case yeah you're probably right.

explain yourself next time plz.

This issue needs to be solved..

Someone, please find an example of someone who has had a sternum pec tear! If this can't be done.. Ruhl probably looks that way because of nerve damage or scar tissue

It appears to be some sort of atrophy.
