good RAW numbers?
« on: May 09, 2007, 08:10:12 AM »
What are some good numbers for someone who does their PL raw?  ???  All these big numbers seem abit out of place due to all the gear people use to compete in. I'm just more curious than anything. What sort of lifts are considered elitist lifts?

There was a time in Powerlifting when a 500lb bench press was a true landmark in a lifters career.  It still is in raw meets

I would say double bodyweight Raw bench is exceptional.  Double body weight squat and dead is good but not exceptional.

If you weigh 242 lbs or less:

A raw competition style 400 lbs benchpress is very good for a natural lifter.

Squat, I would say... 545 lbs.

Deadlift, 600 lbs.

Eg, a world class powerlifter I know of, who's walked out and squatted 800 lbs below parallell in single ply, drug tested, in the 220 lbs class, has a raw squat personal best of 585 lbs. Then again, I know he trains a lot with the squat suit on.

whatever yours are plus 150 pounds. ::)

seriously, just worry about progressing, compete if you feel like it. if all you do is worry about whether or not your lifts are "good" you'll likely end up getting discouraged every time you see someone outlifting you.

THis is very realistic. Good shirt form and a good shirt will shatter that fast. Shirt work put lbs on my raw bench and thickness on my torso.  Just handling the extra plate that the shirt allows forces it to respond.
Not much different than drugs, but no hormonal rollercoaster side effects.
