Maybe there is nothing wrong at all with IFBB!  Ever thought of that?

It is what it is!   - And that is what makes it unique; that is why we love it!

Pro Bodybuilding will never appeal to the mainstream!  And that is what makes it popular to the fringe!

BB is alive and well.  There will always be healthy debate and banter.  That is good for the sport.

The Lee's and the Bob's will have their little online stoushes.  It is fun and entertaining.  Events like this  is what keeps the sport alive!

BB is not for the mainstream and thank god for that!

I see it as a great opportunity to start to bring the world of BB, to the masses and build a greater fan base that we need. Since nothing was done over the last 20 years or so to up the level of awareness of professional BB to our own market, we at BB.com see this as the perfect time to embrace the power of the internet and for the first time in history...showcase the Olympia to a worldwide audience...FREE!

Believe me, this is no cheap venture for us...but we are willing to invest in the future of professional BB, and the media exposure it rightfully deserves. Magazines working with the internet, working with the supplement companies all for the common purpose of taking BB out of the stone age, and into your living rooms via the internet.

I see this as a huge step FORWARD...not backwards. We will build it, and they will come.

what he said

also we need new and advanced bodybuilding and fitness channnl 24/7 on cable tv that include all aspect of fitness from trainign to nutrition to competitions,,bodybuilding,,fitness, powerlifting,,strong men/women,,figure,,it should be some combo between playboy and the ifbb,,all hosted by femiliar faces in the industry,,atleast in the usa,,it is very possible with so many people in the usa and overseas that are into their image and physiqe

a chanel like that,,which i say will be there 10 years from now,,will be watched by millions both for the fitness aspect,,diet aspects,, and for the hot chicks later on at night which hopefully can be playboy level,,channel like that will be major attraction in college dorms and in general ages 16-60

it will have tonssss of commercials and money and not only from the bodybuilding supp industry but from every aspect of society,,

you can stretch it to a lot more than only bodybuilding,,you just need arnold,, the moment he stop dreaming about being president,, to put his finger in it and it will be there,, he can even own this channel and all rights to it,,

and the hormones should not be left out,,,there should be specific warnings and all the medical warnings needed and then once twice a week  program talking about hormones,,the good,,the bad,,the benefit for bodybuilder,,etc etc ,,talking about it doesnt mean using it! so it is possible same as rappers scream guy and hoe every second on the radio,,or same as your computer is full of very very hard core porn you wouldnt dream of 20 years go,,or same as you have that hilton girl famous for nothing and nicole smith taking gh all over the news,,,everything can go now days and so are hormones as long as you have the right medical warning for script before. it should be about hormones not narcs or pain killers.

also the way to fill in a thing like that 24/7 and bring bodybuilding into main stream big time is,,,,to show local competitions like small ones in michigan or illinois,,,from county to city to state to nationals,,,have people everywhere,,,thats how you get sport into mainstream and not only to florida california and ny,,,

its gonna be there 10-15 years from now,,i just tellin you this in 2007

You have a lot of good ideas and that is what the sport is lacking at times.

People with ideas, energy and enthusiasm will carry this great sport into the next millenium!

Thankyou for your contribution to this thread.  I enjoyed reading your post.

You sound very passionate about BB and that is something to be admired.

I am pretty sure it isn't the BB idustry Lee has negativity against.  It is the IFBB.  And if you can't see why there should be negativity against the IFBB then, really, you aren't seeing the real picture.

The IFBB IS pro bodybuilding!  Thats the way it is in the world, there are the workers (the pros) and the owners.  The same scenario plays out in in every buissness there is.  Sorry but if someone does not like it they can quit or move up the ladder.

I have a feeling you are in love with the IFBB and what it stands for.  Now taking that into account, your remarks for now on are meaningless and just for entertainment.  I'm glad I finally figured you out.

I hate to say it bro, but that exact post can apply to you as well. You obvously hate the IFBB.  So anything that you post comes from the same bias.  Theres one major difference between Onlyme and Hank. One of you fellas likes to HATE. The other one of you tries to support and be positive.  You figure out who is who. In my book, there aint nothin more useless than a hater. Its some sad shitt to see.

I was surprised and shocked by onlyme's outburst.  Yes the guy is full of hatred and loathing for the IFBB.

I myself have been guilty too of spreading hatred.  At times the sport frustrates and  angers me, to the point where i can let fly in a tirade of disdain.

Look, at the end of the day we all love this sport. Long live bodybuilding.

Onlyme i dont hate you.  And please do not interpret this post as an attack on your character.  You have made some very worthy contributions to this so-called sport.

Yes, you go to bed Lee.

Go to sleep alone; no wife, no children,no future!

Lock your door of that shitty apartment.  Curl up in bed and dream about all those lost opportunities.

Sweet dreams.

Lee makes more money in 1 year than you'll ever see in your lifetime.
and What opportunity did he lose?
to compete in the ASC or OLYMPIA.... LIVE ON....WEBCAST!!! YAY!!
shit! who wouldn't wanna do that!!?!
reduce yourself to the blurriest form of video on the planet?

hey BB.com, you should do the feed live on Cellular-phone feeds, i think the PC right now is good, but who needs all that quality and size? put it on my phone!  ::)

You are fine.  I think you guys (or maybe it's me) is misinterpreting what I mean.  I do not dislike the IFBB.  I dislike the people who run it.  I dislike the direction they have taken BB.  I dislike the way the treat their members.  I like BB and I love training.  I have been lifting since the early 70's.  And up until 1998 I was in the gym almost everyday.  These past 9 years has been very less than productive in the gym but my love for it hasn't changed.  I have dealt personally with the people involved with the IFBB and they are spineless punks just like Sean.  That is why Sean is the perfect spokesperson for the IFBB.  He is exactly what they stand for, SHIT.  If Manion and the Weiders were gone and someone was running the IFBB who actually cares for their members and wants them to have a future both financially and physically then BB would be great.  But these people have ruined it and have made it embarrassing.

i know what you mean.
Jealousy, backstabbing, and talking behind the other person's back, are key elements in bodybuilding. not just IFBB, but local organizations too. This is why the sport will never progress, because everyone is in it for the quick buck, and they don't give a shit about the other guy

A PPV spectacle"? When was that, exactly?? The Olympia PPV was never a spectacle, just a move that either broke even or lost money.

I believe they are referring to the fact that due to technical problems which Flex Wheeler's company blamed on Embarq, the feed was terrible and didn't play for many people.

You were at the O and probably weren't aware of it.  But the online community who didn't make the trip was very aware that the webcast, which cost $24, was terrible.  By now you may have heard the flippant way it was handled by Flex as well.

When was it a spectacle? when people used to ORDER IT ON PPV, and it was FUN TO WACTCH! Those were the days when people appreciated clear picture, now you've given us a webcast that rivals the quality of a 1970's color tv! wooooooh!
PS- just in case you forgot, i have a nack for remembering the oddest stuff. you said on PBW: the show following the 2006 Olympia

"i don't care what anyone says, the Olmypia is the Olympia and it should be on  pay-perview"  [something along those lines]
(after you acknoledged the complaints of the webcast viewers that episode)
so now only 7 months later your "happy to announce" that BB.com has decided to try and ruin it! yay! atleast this time i can be mad that i watched a shit broadcast for 25$ less than last year.  ::)

When Wayne promoted the Olympia it was great.  It has steadily gone downhill since.  It was his money and his production.  Chic says the IFBB backed Wayne.  How exactly did they back him.  Chic pops off so much shit on here that has no merit its unreal.  What did the IFBB do.  Did they give Wayne any money.  Did they provide FREE volunteers.  NO on all those questions.  Did they give Wayne a great deal on the sanction fee........NO.  How exactly did they help him?  Did they pay for the ads in the mags..........NO.   Hopefully Chic isn't trying to compare the BB.com webcast to PPV.  He can't be that dumb.

Wayne went first class and now since NO ONE at the IFBB knows how to promote it is a third class show.  Pure and simple.  The most prestigious event in BB history and it is conducted at a local off the strip hotel.  Good move.  Wayne would rather take a personal loss of money in order to produce a first class show and the IFBB would rather try to save money at the expense of the fans and competitors.  How do you fight that Chic.  You can't.  you know it, you just can't admit it.  Thats what is sad.

It's allot like Sean.  When they don't have the answer or they know they are wrong, the question gets ignored and the one-liners start.

Webcasting is in its infancy now. They are getting better and better each time they do it. They just introduced an upcoming product, which can data download speed of 150 megabits per second, roughly 25 times faster than today's standard cable modems. In a few years, these webcasts will be tremendous. For now, they are quite good, for those who cannot make it to the show, thanks to bb.com, you can see the show, and argue over which competitors was better online.  But there is nothing like the real show, being there, the hype, the experience, etc.

I am very grateful for these webcasts, and the effort taken by the promoters, hosts and bb.com and others to make it work. It isnt cheap, the equipment, the linefeed, the expenses to make it happen.

You cant watch the posing routine anyway, and with some of the music that is so slow, it is interesting to hear the commentary of Dan and Bob. They are pretty good in talking when the music is so slow, and quiet when there is actually an entertaining routine.

I thought YOU couldn't be that dumb, or niave for that matter. Please, having the IFBB as your backer, being the pres. of the IFBB, and having the clout of the IFBB was EVERYTHING, as evidenced  by the floundering of the PDI and the grand total of 0 major sponsors.

Whats sad is that you cant see the forrest for the trees,  big man....the show isn't at a hotel, it's at the Orleans Arena which is a perfect setup and layout for the stage, etc....The hotel itself isn't that great, but , no one is forced to stay there either...I don't.

The EXPO is bigger and beter than it ever was, with more booths/ sponsors... and the show itself has set new attendance recors for the past two years...this year will be SOLD OUT.

Again where was the IFBB backing Wayne.  You didn't say one thing.  Being the President didn't get him a discount anywhere.  Paying the IFBB almost $300,000 to put on the Olympia doesn't sound like a deal.  They took a percentage not a flat fee.  Manion charged over $40,000 using the money that could have gone to the athletes for his personal pleasure and NOTHING to do with the IFBB or BB.  100% for his personal use.  The IFBB doesn't even donate any money for trophies.  NO free ads or anything.  Please tell everyone how the IFBB back Wayne and then tell us how they backed Wayne but not Weinberger.  Thanks for the response.  By the way I wish you weren't so blinded and influenced by them, you are a good guy.  Don't get like Sean.

The Orleans is listed as the Host Hotel.  Thus it is at the Orleans.  The Arena is part of the Orleans.  The expo can't help but be great.  but having it 5+ miles from the Orleans wasn't the best idea.  The convention center is an awesome place though I give it that.
