Anybody who has economic ties with the US is not going to attack us...China is not a threat. Atleast for the short term.

In 2008, you're correct.

In 2020, with fin. markets panicking as oil disappears, 1-2 new AIDS ravaging poor nations, and terror worse than ever, they might make a move.  We have NO clue what technology will allow for by then.

If their economy grows at the same pace it has been, China will be a bonifide super power that will challenge the US globally.   They will have the technology.

I agree but they will challange as an economic power much like Japan did in the 1980's. They can have everything they want with cash rather then a very expensive war that will damage markets across the globe. It all depends on what happens internally. The hard liners are dying off. There are very few of the "Long marchers" left. Economic growth has become a major priority.

China is now a free market, but still run like a dictatorship.. Maybe they do have agressive ambitions regard the states..

I'm sure they aren't thrilled with the competition but as long as we work hard to intertwine our business dealings then it will be harder for them to go to war. Whats afffecting us more is that they run on a merchantile system which benefits their economy and damages their trading partners.
