on a pro standpoint labrada went out on top and was not embarrassing himself .

As a pro, the way that Lee and others like him go out while still on top , is the way to go.
As an ordinary Joe Blow (like me and others) why should you ever quit?
I see no reason that anyone should just quit training and eating well.

What about when it is sunny outside. Why be antisocial and go to the gym?

Let me guess.... One coffin for you, another for your trophy  ::)

Brutal negative view on life caused by overtrainning and/or getting no results.

You don't quit bodybuilding. bodybuilding choses you for eternity.

Look, I still see why anyone has to LIVE in the gym. Why would it be impossible to do both; have a decent overall life and still train like a bodybuilder, even compete in a couple shows each yr?
You can still be a serious bodybuilder, work a real in an actual career, train hard and not do a boatload of drugs, etc. The idea is to be consistant but moderate.

I was NEVER going to be an IFBB pro so I opted to look at BB as a lifstyle. It is an overall lifestyle that includes training, diet and even contests with a well rounded lifestyle. Granted you won't go big time without the extreme juice, but you can enjoy the bennefits of BB for a lifetime.

Hmmmm, I think there is a difference between living a healthy lifestyle and being a "bodybuilder".... where is working out just keeping fit and when does it become bodybuilding?

I competed in a bunch of shows with little to no drugs and always having a job that was outside of BB.
I even won a few times and placed well in some decent sized shows. I was lucky enough to even beat those who went to extremes with drugs and did NOTHING but train for a show, etc.
Sergio Olivia  worked in a steel mill for serval hrs per day before he was Mr O.
Ronnie was a full time cop while he was Mr O during his first few wins.
The failure to integrate a meaningful life with serious training is something that is an individual issue.

Good point.

But Howie, would you have considered gay-4-pay had you not had a job?

That would depend on each persons ideals and definition of meaningful life.
