As a matter of fact, I am doing Planche and Iron Cross training.  All of my workouts center around these type of exercises.  It is amazing how much stronger I have gotten in such a short amount of time.

YES!

Are you implying that by now your 225lb deadlift set went from 112 to 212 reps.? When it does and I see it on video, I will consider your training advice a little more informative and a little less entertaining.

have you noticed the way that bboy Junior (seen in the first vid I posted in this thread) lowers himself in an arc or the way that the guy in the ghetto workouts does the circle pull ups (that he calls the running man), or the archer push ups demonstrated on the elite rings website?

Well I have recently started adding similar variations in my planche and lever training, these circular movements are another intersting way to hit different ROMs and increase tension unilaterally.  The pulling variants of this are also a great way to work up to one arm pull-ups.

It didn't help that he weighed 170 pounds with the vest on.

Great mass-building exercise  ::)

BRUTAL SOLIPSISM

Brutal posting a video that agrees with a point that you are arguing against.

Adding external weight is ONE means of adding resistance, I have discussed the use of weighted vests on here many times.

It is the only means that you utilize.  This limits your progress.

with all due respect you aren't viewing push-ups correctly

they actually allow for much finer modulation of resistance than free-weights because it is possible to increase resistance in infintessimal increments by adjusting hand position and weight distribution.  In case you missed my post on the previous page:

Hmm....thats right, you cant 'infinitesimally' alter your hand postion on any of the bench press variations.  Also, I assume your 'weight distribution' claim has to do with your foot position (or height) in relation to the hands.  Gee, I wonder if you can alter the angle of the bench to place a different stress on the pecs as well....hmmmm....a question for the ages.

Put this in the 112x225lb deadlift file.  :-\

/ex-gymnast
/saw perhaps 8-10 dudes over 4 years of uni who could do good iron crosses, and that was at the nat'l level.

Chimps.....I am an ex-gymnast as well.  I would love to see a video of any of these guys doing multiple planche push ups.  Planche press to handstand is pretty cool to see as well.  I think that the guys on here who dont think that gymnastic moves can build muscle should re-think their opinions.  Even back in high school gymnastics the training was brutal.

I can just barely hold a full planche, I can do iron cross presses for reps though (lowering into iron cross and pressing back to support).

True iron crosses on rings?  That would be a video to see if you truly are doing them fully.

yep.

I like to do them starting from a tuck planche instead of straight up and down, because , I feel like it hits my chest better being more horizontal and it bothers my shoulders less.  I can do it straight up and down though.

Well, my shoulders could never take the rings or the high bar.  I was more of a vault, floor, and parallel bar person.  I SUCKED with pommel horse.  With so much information on core training and the like, I would love to go back and train myself during that time.  I would imagine things wouldnt be so damn difficult if I did.
