I think the phrase "Holy Schit can that mothafukka run" is an appropriate reaction to watching young Mr. Ellsbury run the bases.

The Sox are used to having guys that can hit homeruns, they're not used to guys that are so fast that anything hit into the gap is a legitimate chance for a triple. He's so fast he turns routine ground balls to the left of the infield into base hits.

In short, he's FAST.

That's pretty funny. You always get some yahoos that get a little crazy when a homegrown prospect does something good.

Number one rule in trading hot prospects. You only trade a good/excellent prospect for a proven commodity. And I'd say at this point Cabrerra has proven himself and we're certainly going to need a 3rd baseman shortly.

That said I hope we don't trade him, he's fun to watch and I love it when a player that's drafted by the Sox makes a positive impact.

Now if the Sox can only find a way to package Lugo and Pena for something worthwhile.

Yes, that was pretty damn cool. And you couldn't be more right about the kid being a spark plug. He gets everyone charged up, the fans, his teammates and the opposing players.

Did you see his first hit? It was a friggin ground ball to short, it wasn't even in the hole. It was just a routine ground ball that he beat out. That was impressive as hell.

I guess the offense came alive tonight, 15-4. I almost felt bad for Tampa Bay. That owner should be shot, they've had some pretty good talent over the years but he just doesn't care about winning.

Ellsbury is the future. It was good to get a taste, but we need to remember he is still a kid. He is very much still a unpolished Diamond. The way he beat out that routine ground ball was awesome. Everyone was like whoa! There is no doubt he will be a star one day. The real issue is what to do with crisp imo. Defensively he has been awesome. You would be hard pressed to find a better defensive cf this year around the league. There are only a few better defensive cf's in the game right now, and it is not do to there ability, it is due to them having better arms (Ichiro) while crisp has a noodle arm. Crisp tracks balls extremely well, has big time speed, and the ability to make those acrobatic catches that leave you shaking your head. Now that he has started to come alive with the bat, he is getting more and more valuable on the trade block. Is this the true coco we have been waiting to see? The injuries held him back last year. Or should they deal him? Hmmmmmmmmm.

4. Jacoby Ellsbury, OF, Boston Red Sox: Took a lackadaisical infield and showed a 30 arm both in infield and in the game, playing left field both times. He's also starting to look more like a singles hitter who won't hit for any power, which is fine given his outstanding range in center, but makes him more of a solid regular than a star.

Any chance you can explain that to me, I don't quite know what it means.

I don't think he's a singles hitter but he's not a homerun hitter either. He hits line drives, I'd be more than happy with singles, doubles and triples. He's so fast anything in the gap is a potential triple.

I've heard a few people up here talk about Ellsbury putting on 20 pounds to add power to his game. I think that's crazy, why mess with what he is. He's not a power hitter.

Scouts grade arms on a scale of 20 to 80 (I think), with 50 being average, and the grades are done in groups of 10.  So 40 is below average, and 30 way below average.

I found more since then, this is from Baseball America:

Weaknesses: Ellsbury's lone below-average tool is his arm strength, but he compensates somewhat by getting to balls quickly and unloading quickly.

So that is a little better outlook.  A Manny/Matsui type thrower rather than a Coco/Damon type.
