It seems those lucky enough to survive hurricane Katrina now have additional challenges to deal with.
It appears those that were housed in FEMA emergency trailers are now suffering from formaldehyde poisoning as a result of those trailers.  It is also alledged that FEMA discouraged doctors from reporting these findings for fear of liability

Was he talking about rebuilding New Orleans after Katrina or helping the survivors.

Who was bitching? I simply reported the facts. Those FEMA trailers are alledged to have poisoned people, and there was an attempt to cover it up in order to evade responsibility. The bitching has not yet begun.

The bill for the Iraq War is approaching 500 billion (10 times more than the original estimate from the Bush Administration).   Since this is US tax payer dollars funding this war I wouldn't mind seeming some tiny fraction of that amount being used to build schools, roads, and to rebuild devastated area in the US.

we buy and sell services in $'s so until we see dramatic price inflation (especially food and housing) the devaluation of the currency won't really be felt

You should! You don't see it because you're use to dealing with US currency day to day.
$1 for you is still $1. But up here and in other regions where we have a different currency,
we see the differences daily.

Used to be I could go to the bank and cash a US dollar denominated cheque and get 154% of the face value.
I remember having to pay $1.62 Cdn for $1 US, ...nowadays when I cash a cheque, it's down to 104%

It will be at par sooner than we know it, ...and then it will return to the days of being worth less than the Cdn$

I truly have to wonder about that statement. You see, even at face value, were one to accept it as fact,
there still is a lingering question.

Throughout the USA, there are countless thousands of people who live in trailers, and have done so for years. Then too, there are the wagoneers as the Aussies like to call them who literally live in their Winnebagos and motorcoaches, as they criss-cross the highways and biways of America. I know many a musician that has lived on a tour bus for extended periods of time, ...yet I have yet to hear of any of them coming down with formaldehyde poisoning. hmmmm... I mean, I know about Native smallpox epidemics, and the subsequent Tuskeegee Experiment, ...and even though it was in my generation... surely this administration is far too compassionate to purposely inflict such a devastation on a group of innocent people.... so I'm left saying hmmmm... I wonder what's up with that? Maybe it should be chalked up to other similar phenomena that has occurred since bush tool office. Never before have steel & concrete buildings fallen, let alone been pulverized to dust, as a result of fire, ...and it hasn't happened since. Maybe this is just another wierd occurence. hmmmm

Jag how far away are you from New Orleans? Ok I lived down yonder for awhile about 5 months ago, to say they don't have the capability to work your living in a dreamland. I stayed with a surfer friend of mine, and he hired some college kids to come help him clean his place up and start back to work on his properties.

They are having to hire hispanic workers to come in to clean up the town, they are getting GREAT pay, including free food, lodging. Pretty weird to see no "hometown hero" cleaning up his or her own town, they work 2 days enough for alcohol, and then are GONE. They ripped the government help to shreds, spent all their money on fringe tinker toys, opening up po boxes and playing the government for morons.

Your going to talk like they were played like a fiddle, when they used and abused the services of sympathetic people, not to mention they trashed the trailers.
My buddy picked some up for $500 each, orginal price $15k

One of my best friends is a General Manager and Manufactured and Modular home sales site in Westwego, LA(on the south side of NO) and he said about 3 people come in a day with $20k checks from road home.  They are making record profits because the customers don't care about the price, because it is not their money...  Not to mention all the contractors are in such high demand, they can pretty much charge anything they want...  I just sent a modular home down there and in texas to install the home would have been around $15k, but they are charging the customer $30K and won't even start on it for 60 days...

You ain't lying...I know a guy that owned a delivery and set up company for mobile and modular homes and whenever Katrina hit, he wasn't doing so hot up here in TX.  so he took out a $290K loan to purchase new equipment and headed down to LA.  in 18 months he has profitted 15 million dollars and is now retired in million dollar house on Possum Kingdom Lake...  RETIRED!
