That shot was taken on Monday 30th July 2007. Unless Canon have introduced in camera photoshopping with a recent firmware upgrade, those abs are real.

props to Flex & AMI.. They have come a long way in recent times with their covers. I think in the last 12 months there have been some cool covers (including the recent M&F Arnold).

Trust me, I wouldn't bother lying to you about it, retouching is often a part of the magazine industry, but im that image his abs aren't retouched... and if I was to retouch the abs, I wouldn't add those deep lines...which, in effect give more of an illusion of folds...I would tend to go more for a slight depressed look, and some raised highlights.

Yes, I work at Flex, and I was at the shoot that happened just last week...I guess either you like the cover or you don't, but that is 2 things wrong in this thread so far as retouching and shoot date.

It's pretty funny how may "photoshop experts" we have here that don't seem to know for sure what a retouched image looks like. There was some work done to the images...the background was made a little darker so he popped a bit, the left side of the background as extended so that he could be moved to the right a bit, and there was a slight adjustment to skin tones and highlights.

Aside from that...those images ARE Jay Cutler...8-9 weeks out from this years Olympia.

All joking aside, IF that is Jay 8-9 weeks out, his lower abs are already deeper than they were at the 2001 Olympia!!

arm was partially stretched to hold contraction and give shape to shoulder (if you look there is still a bend at the elbow), but still give the effect we wanted of a pseudo-heisman look

I would like to mention that yes these shots were taken 9 weeks out from the O, not last year right after the O and the reason why they decided to make a cover with Jay so early on is because when Flex saw the shots I took from Jay at 10 weeks out and saw his condition and size, they organized a last minute shoot for a cover, which has never been done before with any other champion, not even Dorian, usually, the shoots are done either 2 weeks before the contest or right after, this is a first.
