Boxing Gates still bigger
« on: August 26, 2007, 09:00:40 PM »
Boxing still makes more at the gate than MMA events.  That surprises me.  As popular as MMA is I would think their gates would be higher.  Are the tickets that much cheaper at MMA events.

Thanks for the "news" sherlock. But then.. how old is boxing? How old is MMA? Of course it's going to take a while for MMA to catch up. But boxing is going down while MMA popularity is sky rocketing. It's just a matter of time when MMA catches up. Is it 5 year or 10 years, no one knows. But it'll happen...

On a global scale I think boxing will always be popular, outside of america and Japan although mma is popular it's not anywhere near a big as boxing. I don't see why people have to like one, there is no rule saying that you can't like both, they both have different things to offer but can both be good to watch. So I think some boxing fans will become mma fans but will remain boxing fans as well, there is enough room for both.

Who said it was "news"? The reasons are numerous, but it is a fact none the less. Did I hurt your feelings, bro?
