as far as i know jc shot many top figure, fitness and bodybuilding athletes and his reputation is not bad at all. some of the pictures are not that great while there are some that very good. i guess just like any photographer.
i dont see a problem with that contract. in my opinion if you dont like the contract, dont sign. simple as that. or you have to learn how to negotiate and get what you think you deserve. and if you dont come to an agreement, simply dont sign.
i remember lee priest posted ifbb olympia contract.now that was really bad and nobody said a word.

What is my agenda here?

You're right every photographer takes bad photos. The difference is most don't put them on a cover and exploit them.

We know you're a big Lee Priest fan and there was plenty of discussion about the contract on the main board, but nice try.

Without getting too involved in this issue/debate, I just wanted to say a couple of things for the record:

---Exhibit "B" is neither Monica nor Jenny.

---I shot with JC in Chicago during Junior Nationals. I signed a very typical model release/copywright form, and he paid me for the shoot. I did not sign a management contract, just a standard release form. I had a good time doing the shoot, it was fun, and I am very pleased with the photos that JC took.

---Models need to be aware of what they are signing, read it, and make decisions based on what they feel is best, especially if they are trying to pursue some sort of "career" in this industry. If they feel that an exclusive management arrangement with JC is best for them, then at least the contract allows them to be fully aware of what they are signing up for, assuming they read it.

I never said Exhibit "B" was Monica or Jenny (for those who may not recognize them from these wonderful photos... Exhibit "A" is Monica, and Exhibit "C" is Jenny).... and as stated before Exhibit "B" belongs on a calendar in a backroom somewhere!

Perhaps someone who has signed the contract can share the benefits... From what it seems he pays for putting them up at shows... and maybe he offers them a monthly stipend... who knows

has anyone signed it and tried to get out.. or is happy with it

Dina... when I see pictures of you Mmmmm... I always imagine nasty things!

However, Exhibit "B"... not so much! I'm sure a construction worker would find that photo hot as the centerfold in his Snap-On tool catalog though. If that same construction worker saw photos of you Dina... ummm... he would have a tough time working with the pipe you created in his pants.

I did a shoot with JC and my contract looked nothing like the one posted. Mine was much more reasonable and we negotiated and changed the parts of the contract that I wasn't happy with before I signed it. Like any photographer, not all of the pictures were perfect, but enough were for me to use them for my website and promotions. I do not think he was trying to be unfair. As other people posted, it is up to the athlete to sign the contract anyway (or have it changed if need be). As for the hardfitness magazine, the covers may not please everyone, but its nice to read informative articles written by competitors. Also, his competition coverage is really good and gets online fast. Just wanted to share my experience and opinion...

You're correct on one thing - the contest coverage is excellent. He should continue to do what he's good at.

With respect to your experience, it seems that it's the lesser-known talent - and not the pros or top amateurs - who generally get the shaft. I do not find that at all surprising. Instead of allowing themselves to be intimidated by his threats or misleading statements, however, they should be willing to go on-the-record with their experiences.

It's ambitious of him to want to be a 'manager', but as another manager noted, it seems that he is more of a pimp wannabe than a person capable of actually 'managing' anyone else's fitness schmodeling career.

Yeah, I buy that, maybe. Once.

But repeatedly? On covers?

Ron, I had already had a few beers which is why I missed Dina's request... I figured it was just enough beer that if I got picked up for DUI on the way to see Dina that I might get to give Lindsay Lohan a licking instead.

Of course Lindsay would always be second choice to Dina though!!!
