I wonder if Vick was thinking of Jesus while he was executing those dogs that didn't want to fight badly enough?

Me too.  What a waste.  This guy was redefining the QB position and was one of the very few NFL players who got endorsement money.  He was probably the most exciting player to watch since Barry (at least for me).  Down the toilet now. 

I'm not sure whether the thug mentality has much to do with this situation.  He was just stupid.  I don't know how widespread dog fighting is in the U.S., but I remember as a child seeing some guys having pit bulls fight each other.  I never really gave it second thought.  I don't think they were fighting to the death and I doubt they were executing dogs. 

Vick grossly underestimated how this would play across the country.  I agree with those who say he might have been better off killing a person.

Hardly.  There is a long history of redemption in pro sports.  Anyone who can run, jump, throw, tackle, etc. will always get multiple opportunities.  And when you are arguably the best athlete in the game (like Vick) there will always be teams lining up to give you a job.

Ray Lewis is still playing, despite his involvement in a murder case.  His case was much worse than Vick's, because someone actually died.  Lawrence Phillips was around forever.  Because Jeff George has one of the strongest arms in NFL history, he still gets calls for a job, even though he is a head case.  Ryan Leaf.     Granted Goodell is much tougher and has done a spectacular job so far, but I doubt he keeps Vick out longer than a year (after his jail sentence).     

Depending on the length of his sentence, I think he'll serve about a year in jail and a one year NFL suspension after that.  He'll be back in 2010 or 2011.  Tried to bet one of my partners a Happy Meal that Vick will be back on the field, but he was too chicken.

It's the typical thing you here from high profile people who get in big trouble.  they run around proclaim they found Jesus and they have changed.

If they have truly found Jesus they should keep it to themselves and when they really do change they can point to Jesus as the reason.

Until then they should shut the hell up and deal with the consequences they brought upon themselves.

Real change takes time.

The charges that stand today were part of a larger investigation of a drug ring, which Vick was also a part of.

The feds still have RICO charges looking at Vick, yeah that's right a criminal enterprise (what employer would not want that on his employees resume)

Yeah 56 dogs are dying in this case, also alot on his backyard
