If you are looking at new residential stuff....you are going to have to spend at least $1500 to get good quality.  Closer to 2k for very good.  Look for a minimum of a 2.0hp CONTINUOUS-duty motor.....not just hp.....very important.  If you are "plump" you might wanna bump that up to 3.0 vice 2.0.

If you can spend the cash......go with a Precor.  Excellent treads, but you will pay a premium price.  $2k to 4k.  depending on model.  Has a 10yr warranty that covers everything on the tread.  Not just motor, like many others.

One brand I always loved was the Pacemaster line.  Little known company, but very good treads at a decent price.  $1500-3k.

Both of these brands i sold for 8 yrs and wouldn't hesitate to buy a used one in good condition.  Parts are available and they last for years.....

news that I'm so not interested in hearing ... commercials ... on the radio and on TV .. and the waste of the first part of a movie in the theatre .. the stupid pop up ads on youtube .. the fact it's really really friggin cold and I hate the snow


oh and I never get a free ticket to Oprah's favorite things show  >:(
