Thinking I might try to squeeze in a quick trip to Vegas for the O next wk end. Where is the best place to get a good package deal on flight and hotel on such short notice?

I hate using the computer to compare rates and what not. I just go to the travel agency in my town, I tell them where I want to stay, dates etc. Just give them my CC number to hold the room and pay for flight. You can probably save a few dollars booking it online, but I prefer to talk to someone about it, I just can't seem to get assurance online that everything is going to be ok. Of course I live 2 miles from a travel agency, so it's not a big deal.

Yeah, I checked online earlier and every site I went to had differant rates that were all over the place...and a lot of those sites were almost imposable to figure out what you were doing...frustrating.

Right now I can't find a plane ticket for less then $500 which seems high to me...I need 2 tickets and surely I can get a better deal then that.

A travel agent can't guarantee you everything's "going to be okay"... they get their info from the internet too.  Roll Eyes

Use a travelocity type site to see what the options are, then when you've made your choice go to the hotel chain's website to book it directly.  You're usually always okay sticking with reputable chains like Marriott or Hilton.

I know Goatboy. I just said that I feel better talking to a real person. That being said when I use to travel with my ex, she handled everything online, all I did was give her my cc numbers and she got it done online somehow. I was just saying for me I like to talk to someone face to face.

Dan, you're probably doing the right thing working with a Travel Agent  .... I live in LV and have been trying ot find rooms during the Oly for friends with no luck with reasonable rates.

Those travel agents who specialize in LV tours more than likely have access to a pool of rooms that they offer to their customers at the last minute.

And if you have to call a hotel personally, you could be lucky and find cancellations at the last minute.

I'd be surprised if Oly tickets were all sold out. Not positive this year but I think you'll be able to get tickets at the box office each night without much of a problem. They just won't be the best seats in the house.

Funjet
although might not be available out of whatever airport you need.  They do a lot of last minute deals, but this might be a little too last minute.  Undecided  Let me know if you need a TA hookup which is a much safer bet than one of those online gigs (which can be a crap shoot  Wink)
