nasser should have won it in 97. Hell every olympia after 93 dorian should have lost, and even 93 is debateable.
that doesnt make him one of the best bb's to never win the olympia.
it makes him a bb that shouldve won in one year but didnt.
so he's amonsgt flex wheeler et al.
Lee Labrada is the only BB who came in year in year out and placed runner up or third to the mr.o and on at least 2 occassions shouldve got the nod- if not 3.
Shawn Ray- as good as he was, placed 3rd/4th year in year out so IMO doesnt meet the criteria.
Rich Gaspari- although meeting the runner up criteria cant be considered as he deserved all of his runner up placings. Haney beat him fair and square every year.
Not so for Labrada.
Levrone probably has a case also. Both Labrada and Levrone regularly beat Ray.
For some reason people look at Ray and forget that he was usually out of the top 3 due to levrone, labrada and later cormier, nasser, flex etc..
so my vote goes to Levrone and Labrada as they meet all the criteria....i.e. runner ups or top threes throughout careers and at least 1 occasion where they couldve been crowned.
Mentzer doesnt meet that as he didnt rack up enough shows to prove it- same for flex.
an ray's average placings werent high enough.
