Come on guys. Jay doesn't suck. It's the judges who suck! Jay was way too soft to win. he got a gift. Wolf, Victor and Rockel all got robbed. Poor Rockel seems to get robbed a lot....

Yep true. Victor lost out in the pose down and if he ever had a chance he lost it then for sure. The posedown was dominated by the old guard and new guys weren't ever really in it. |

All these things people say about Jay are pretty abstract. He's a picasso, he's stir fried shit, he's this he's that. What? You're just sticking always to abstract, subjective statements, how can anybody take that seriously in deciding a winner? What are you saying does Jay have weak calves or do they lack definition? Are Victors Forearms or lats better? Is Victor wider and more impressive? Or is it just afew creases in Jays lower back that you think the entire competition should be decided on? |

Who is the best ambassador of the sport? who stays in relatively decent shape in the offseason? who avoids legal controversy? who draws the least attention to the sport's notorious reputation for illegal drug use? who treats the fans that attend the shows like their presence means something? who can put 5 words together that make sense and don't offend anyone? who will inspire the young guys to enter contests, buy protein powder and subscribe to the muscle mags?
Jay looks and acts like Mr. O. Thats why he is Mr.O !

Uh everyone bitched when Ronnie was off and won. Where have you been?  Only the Ronnie lovers defended. Funny how even the Jay fans are saying he didn't deserve the win. He was off. WAY off. |

I was at the show and got lucky enough to get press passes; friends with a pro fitness competitor and her husband who own a local mag in the SouthEast. Regardless, here is the real deal. Jay was off; no question about it. I spoke with Eddie Abbew and a couple of top bodybuilding scribes who sat by me. Vic should have won with Wolf or Dex 2nd. Jay was blocky, lacked cuts and actually looked very average. If his reputation did not proceed him, I doubt he would have gotten third. Ronnie was atrocious. The big man was twenty pounds lighter and wider in his hips than shoulders. He is a great champ, however, and went out with class. Jay knew he was lucky and I gurantee if Vic did not have the steroid cloud (for dealing and DEA issues), he would have smoked Jay. Instead, Jay got a gift. As for Wolf, he is the man. He has the package that Ronnie brought to the stage in 1998/1999 without the back. If he can get the thickness and detail in his back and bring up the detail and size in his calves, he will smoke Jay. It will be a battle between him and Vic for the next ten years for the Mr. Olympia. My opinion, but also supported by a couple of high profile bodybuilding scribes who I spoke with. Jay was gifted. Enough said.
